We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Cloud Design Architect to join Emerson’s Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) team focusing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role is pivotal in architecting, designing, and optimizing cloud-native solutions that align with enterprise-scale requirements. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in OCI services, infrastructure automation, and cloud architecture best practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions that drive business transformation.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:

  • Design and implement OCI-based cloud architectures that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Resource Manager for OCI.
  • Collaborate with application architects, DevOps, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions with enterprise systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend OCI services and features to optimize workloads and reduce operational costs.
  • Create detailed design documentation, architecture diagrams, and deployment guides.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, governance frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide root cause analysis and remediation strategies.
  • Participate in cloud migration initiatives, including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and re-architecting legacy systems.
  • Stay current with OCI updates, emerging cloud technologies, and industry trends.
  • Technical Stack: OCI Core Services (Compute, Networking, Storage), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE), Oracle Autonomous Database, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI), scripting (Python, Bash)
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving mindset, ability to work independently and in a team, passion for innovation and continuous learning

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology/engineering discipline required.
  • 10+ years of IT engineering experience required

  • 5+ years of experience working in a cloud engineering position required

  • 5+ years of direct working experience on Oracle required

  • Experience with technical writing and defending technology decisions

  • Experience in providing escalated operations support required

  • Good communication and collaboration skills

  • Authorized to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship now and in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:

  • Five (5) or more years working in a network and security engineering discipline
