Commodity Manager

- Establish relationships within supply base to ensure performance metrics are being met to Emerson’s goals. Leads strategic supplier engagement activities with focus on performance metrics including safety, quality, and on time delivery.
- Work systematically and expertly in a well-documented manner in accordance with the company rules and procedures including adherence to trade compliance (export / import and supply chain security) regulations entirely.
- Develop category strategies, manage supplier risk, and coordinate global supplier onboarding, qualification, and performance reviews.
- Optimize costs through effective use of tools and strategic sourcing processes while meeting engineering, quality, and product management specifications and requirements.
- Negotiate price, delivery, payment terms, stocking programs and other terms related to supply in compliance with Emerson standard terms and conditions with suppliers. Ensure contract availability and validity.
- Use clear data and easy scenarios to help with bids, protect margins, and control cash flow for mega projects.
- Able to lead initiatives and drive process improvements
- Lead contract negotiation in close collaboration with legal departments.
- Work with sales, engineering, project management, to establish costing models for each material and services.
- Work with engineers and new product development teams to design for lower cost, prefer standard components, and plan supplier qualifications.
- Define supplier or product qualification needs together with supplier quality engineers.
- Participate regularly in meetings to communicate status, risks, and strategy to senior management level
- Engage with Regulatory, Compliance, and EHS to ensure supplier qualifications meet environmental, health, safety, and industry regulatory standards.
- You have the ability to optimally apply interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships through cross-departmental collaboration.
- You understand how to identify root causes of issues and develop/resolve situation independently.
- You possess strong presentation, interpersonal and project management skills.
- Four years technical or business degree + 4 years of experience in supply chain management.
- English fluency (written and spoken) is a must; additional languages are a plus.
- Travel: 10–20%.

The Commodity Manager oversees strategic sourcing, supplier qualification, and contract management for materials to ensure quality-compliant, on-time, and cost-effective supply. You develop category strategies, monitor supplier performance, and risk, and focus on reducing total cost of ownership while securing long-term capacity for high-mix low volume production. You will collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality, drive design-for-manufacturing, and test requirements, and implement supplier development programs by meeting quality standards. You track raw-material market trends, forging lead times, and capacity to create demand and release plans aligned with project schedules, leading continuous improvement and risk mitigation across the supply chain.
