Gas Turbine Project Engineer

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Project Engineering:
Execute Hardware & Software Controls engineering.
Technical evaluation of bid for specifications.
Develop/review Bill of materials, network architecture, GA drawings
Technically support vendor selection.
Implement the Ovation control logic and graphics for the Gas Turbine control system.
Test, verify and document using Gas Turbine Simulator that the Ovation control system performs to specification.
Develop the narrative control document describing the gas turbine unit operation and its associated alarms and trips.
Conduct the Hardware & Software Design Review (SDR) and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) with the customer.
Provide Installation and Commissioning Support to field service team.
Provide post-Installation Customer Service Support.
Participate in project internal and customer Kick of Meeting (KOM)
Co-ordinate with US lead engineer for design/implementation of control and graphics
Track project budget, progress & quality of the projects and ensure periodic reporting to front offices.
Field Services:
- Preparing site execution plans with help of project manager
- Leading the site team for Ovation system power up, redundancy and I/O testing
- Maintaining protocols for loop check, device check and panel charging
- Leading the site team for Analog and Binary Device testing and fault finding
- Engaging with customer and vendors on technical aspects of site commissioning and report the progress and flags the roadblocks and challenges to site manager or project manager.
- Fault diagnosis of Ovation system, network system, and various communication interfaces like OPC, Modbus, DNP3, serial etc.
- Loop and device checking and necessary modifications in the logics, graphics, and database as per customer /site requirements
- Working closely with engineering team for troubleshooting of HW/SW (e.g. controllers, modules, link modules etc.)
- Commissioning for commercial operation
- Customer facing and preparation of site report
- Coordination with vendors and front offices

For This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in control & Instrumentation, power or electrical engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Gas Turbine Control System hardware and software development, implementation, testing and validation.
Experience working for a major turbine manufacturer or turbine controls vendor (e.g. GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, ABB, Alstom, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Toshiba, etc.).
Gas Turbine control algorithm knowledge (e.g. Fuel Governor, Sequencing and Auxiliaries, AGC, Isochronous and Droop controls etc.).
Experience with ISA and SAMA logic symbols, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams.
Proficiency with configuring database, logic and HMIs of one or more DCS platforms (e.g. Emerson Ovation, ABB/Bailey INFI 90, Siemens T3000, GE Mark V/ VI, Mitsubishi DIASYS Netmation, Invensys, Woodward Micronet etc.).
Gas Turbine process knowledge.

Ability and willingness to travel as may be required
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Experience with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and technical documents.

The candidate will be an essential member of a team-oriented Gas Turbine Solutions Group with responsibilities for hardware & software design, implementation, testing and deployment of gas turbine control retrofit systems. Duties require experience with Siemens/ABB-Alstom/Westinghouse/General Electric heavy-duty combustion turbine controls. Experience with Pratt & Whitney/GE/Rolls Royce aero-derivative gas turbine control systems is welcomed.
