Material Handler (Equipment Operator Lead) - 1st Shift

Based in SOUTHAVEN, MS, a Material Handling Lead supports daily warehouse operations by coordinating material movement, guiding team members, and ensuring accurate and efficient handling processes. This role contributes to a safe, organized, and high‑performing environment by supporting workflow decisions, maintaining high quality standards, and actively participating in floor operations.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Make recommendations to the Departmental Supervisor regarding workforce utilization and training needs.
- Maintain an active presence on the warehouse floor, participating in day‑to‑day work.
- Highlight daily volume needs and assign work to team members.
- Follow up to ensure all material movements within the warehouse are completed accurately.
- Provide coaching and direction to team members as needed.
- Analyze productivity and quality reports to achieve established goals.
- Perform daily put‑away audits.
- Perform associate/operator work whenever possible, balancing other responsibilities unless urgent needs arise.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as assigned.
- Support Inventory with bin audits to ensure accuracy of put‑away actions.
- Ensure all material handlers follow MDC material handling processes and procedures.
- Support EHS activities, training, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace through routine housekeeping.
- Meet department quality, attendance, and productivity requirements.
- Perform all duties in compliance with Company, federal, state, and local safety rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

For This Role, You Will Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Two to three years of lead experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- At least three years of equipment experience, including forklift, cherry picker, and tri‑loader operation.
- Strong self‑motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Basic computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to understand and communicate quality requirements to support operational goals.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work fairly and cooperatively in a team setting.
- Ability to instruct, guide, and encourage a small group of employees.
- Comfortable working at heights up to 20 feet with fall protection.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand or walk on concrete for 8+ hours.
- Ability to use a handheld (RF) scanner effectively and efficiently.
