Position Summary
If you are a mechanical engineering student looking for an internship opportunity to work with the global Emerson Systems and Software organization, this is a stimulating opportunity for you! As the Mechanical Engineer Intern, you will support mechanical design, prototyping, and testing activities while learning from experienced engineers across disciplines. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, PCB designers, reliability engineers, and certification teams to contribute to real product development work.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Supporting the creation of CAD models, engineering drawings, and mechanical documentation for various project requirements.
  • Assisting in post-processing 3D‑printed parts, including cleaning, support removal, and basic finishing tasks.
  • Participating in prototype building, mechanical assembly, and basic fabrication activities.
  • Preparing, operating, and maintaining 3D‑printing equipment for prototype builds.
  • Working with cross‑functional engineering teams to align mechanical and electrical design requirements.
  • Contributing to engineering test activities, including setup, execution, and results documentation.
  • Labeling, sorting, and tracking prototype and hard-tooled samples used for engineering evaluations.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 480 hours; both required and voluntary interns are welcome.
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings, CAD design, and basic engineering principles.
  • Analytical mindset and flexibility when managing assigned tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

  • Familiarity with 3D printing workflows or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or similar software.
  • Interest in prototype development, testing, or product engineering.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and contribute to multidisciplinary engineering work.
