Level Field Service Technician

If you are a field service professional with strong expertise in Level measurement technologies looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! In this role, you will support customers across the United States by delivering advanced technical services for Rosemount Level instrumentation and systems.

You will serve as a technical expert for Rosemount Level technologies, including Radar Level and Tank Gauging solutions, supporting Emerson’s installed base across North America. In addition to providing direct field service, you will collaborate closely with Sales, Business Development Managers, service centers, and product management teams to ensure customers receive world-class technical support and lifecycle services.

This role combines site walkdowns, advanced troubleshooting, commissioning, mentoring field technicians, and customer training, helping protect and grow Emerson’s Level installed base while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Perform demand and contract field services, including emergency and scheduled maintenance
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting, configuration, calibration, and start-up services
  • Support commissioning and startup activities for Level instrumentation in both greenfield installations and brownfield upgrades.
  • Assist with Factory Checkout (FCO), Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ensure systems meet quality and functional standards.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for Level technologies, supporting field technicians, service centers, sales teams, and customers.
  • Assist customers remotely through digital tools such as WebEx or Microsoft Teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide onsite and remote support for complex Level applications, system integration challenges, and commissioning activities.
  • Act as a strategic communication point between customers and Emerson teams to resolve technical issues and drive organizational accountability.
  • Train and mentor field service technicians to strengthen Level expertise across the service organization.
  • Deliver Level product and application training for customers and internal service personnel.
  • Develop and refine best practice procedures for Level startup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Consult with factory engineering teams and service centers to ensure the correct technical solutions are implemented.
  • Support system integration activities and coordinate with project teams to ensure successful execution of customer projects.
  • Ensure safety awareness and leadership are central to all onsite activities and maintain compliance with Emerson safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Manage travel, expenses, and administrative responsibilities in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain technical expertise through factory training and self-study on new Level technologies and system enhancements.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, or related technical field OR equivalent technical training (Associate degree or technical certification)
  • Minimum 5 years of field service experience supporting industrial instrumentation or automation systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Rosemount Level instrumentation or radar-based level measurement technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
  • Ability to travel up to 50–60% domestically; international travel might be required on occasion
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • 5–10 years of field service experience supporting Level measurement technologies
  • Completed Advanced Rosemount Level Training or equivalent Level instrumentation expertise
  • Experience with Radar Level systems and Tank Gauging technologies
  • Strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols such as Modbus and related communication systems
  • Experience with PLC programming, HMI configuration, or industrial control systems integration
  • Strong understanding of industrial applications including oil & gas, chemical processing, power generation, and bulk storage
