Emerson is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer – Power Retrofits to join our Power and Water Solutions team in Cranberry Township, PA (Greater Pittsburgh area). In this role, you will support the design and delivery of Emerson’s award-winning Ovation™ Distributed Control System (DCS) for power generation modernization projects across North America. You will contribute to meaningful work that helps customers improve reliability, efficiency, and long-term performance of critical infrastructure while continuing to deepen your technical expertise in a collaborative engineering environment.

This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, learning from experienced peers, and growing into increased technical ownership over time.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Contribute to the application design and engineering execution of power retrofit projects
  • Develop high-quality engineering deliverables that meet customer requirements for safety, quality, schedule, and performance
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, customers, and architect/engineering (A/E) firms to support system design and technical alignment
  • Participate in Design Review Meetings, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and onsite system commissioning activities
  • Support development and tracking of engineering plans and project documentation
  • Assist with identifying and resolving technical issues, escalating as appropriate
  • Apply and follow established engineering standards, tools, and best practices
  • Support customer presentations and proposal development as needed

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical equivalent
  • 5–7 years of engineering experience, preferably in power generation or industrial environments
  • Experience designing, implementing, or supporting control systems using Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platforms
  • Ability to be based in the Greater Pittsburgh area or relocate, with willingness to travel up to 20% within North America
  • Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
  • Exposure to power plant systems, operations, or modernization projects
  • Experience supporting system testing, commissioning, or customer-facing technical activities
  • Interest in developing deeper technical specialization within control systems
