Job Summary:
If you are a Computer Science, IT, or Engineering student looking for an internship opportunity to work with the global Emerson Systems and Software organization, this is a stimulating opportunity for you! As the Software Test Intern (Manual & Automation), you will support quality, reliability, and security testing for the Service Management System (SMS). You will collaborate closely with software developers and senior test engineers while gaining hands-on exposure to structured testing practices and modern automation tools.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Executing manual test cases to validate SMS workflows, system behavior, and user interfaces across normal, edge, and negative scenarios

  • Performing exploratory testing to uncover unexpected behavior and potential defects

  • Documenting defects with clear reproduction steps, evidence, and observations using established tools and standards

  • Participating in manual regression testing to help ensure system changes do not introduce new issues

  • Assisting in developing and maintaining automated test scripts using Cypress

  • Converting stable manual test cases into automated tests under guidance from senior engineers

  • Running automated regression tests and reviewing logs, screenshots, and reports

  • Supporting verification of input validation, access controls, and secure system behavior through guided testing activities

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field. Ability to complete at least 480 internship hours (open to required or voluntary internships).

  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 480 hours; both required and voluntary interns are welcome.

  • Ability to begin the internship on May 2026.

  • Basic understanding of manual software testing concepts and quality assurance fundamentals

  • Interest in software testing, automation, and secure system practices

  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continuously develop technical and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Exposure to HTML, CSS, or JavaScript through coursework or personal projects

  • Familiarity with automation testing concepts or tools such as Cypress

  • Awareness of API testing concepts or tools like Postman

  • Experience using collaboration or tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, or similar platforms

  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development or testing tools
