Emerson’s Test and Measurement Systems group (formerly known as NI) Product R&D has an immediate opening for a Senior Engineering Manager within our Integrated Products design team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with and manage a team of analog, digital, and systems engineers throughout the product lifecycle to develop products and systems that expand the test and measurement industry's capabilities. Engineering Managers within our Test and Measurement R&D group stand at the intersection of the many disciplines required to make new products come to life, making this role critical to the team's success. In this role you will help develop your reports’ careers and support them in their execution of projects, showing strong communication, empathy, and technical skills. Through your work you will have opportunities to grow your leadership and management skill with a high-performance team of developers.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:

  • Act as a team leader, providing guidance and support to engineers
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers
  • Managing the Engineering Team:
    • Organize, plan, and coordinate the team's activities: set and communicate collective and individual objectives
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members, identifying areas for improvement and professional development.
    • Define and propose skills needs, draft job descriptions for the department, and participate in recruitment in collaboration with the HR department.
    • Participate in disciplinary procedures.
    • Act in accordance with the Group's values, social legislation, and internal rules and procedures, and ensure their compliance with the team.
    • Manage technical and operational projects to improve team efficiency and ensure success
    • Support management and growth of division’s product lines

WHO YOU ARE: You partner with others to get work done. You can take a creative idea and put it into practice. You build and deliver solutions that meet customer expectations. You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in hardware design
  • 3+ years of experience in managing a technical team
  • Located within a commutable distance to NI’s offices in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
    • Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including those with OPT or CPT), H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J, or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire. MUST be a US Citizen or possess a Green Card

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:

  • Experience in bringing up prototype hardware
  • Familiarity with National Instruments products
  • Knowledge of RF design practices
  • Familiar with semiconductor, transportation system, and/or defense test industries
