Position Summary:
As Sales Manager for Flow Control Products, you will lead and grow Emerson’s Flow Controls business across South and Southern Africa, with a strong focus on South Africa and the mining sector. Based in Johannesburg, this role combines technical expertise, commercial leadership, and strategic business development to drive sustainable growth across products, services, and digital valve solutions. Working closely with local business partners, regional leadership, and global teams, you will shape market strategy, strengthen customer relationships, and support Emerson’s long‑term growth and digitalization objectives in the region.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Lead Flow Controls sales, services, and business development activities across South and Southern Africa, including mining and hybrid industries.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies for Flow Control Valves, Digital Valve Controllers, and Digital Valve Services across the assigned territory.
  • Partner closely with local business partners and sales teams to support day‑to‑day sales execution and long‑term growth initiatives.
  • Drive achievement of financial objectives, including orders, revenue, profitability, and pipeline targets, in alignment with regional business plans.
  • Build and execute territory strategies across key markets such as South Africa, DRC, Zambia, and Namibia.
  • Expand adoption of digital and connected services by understanding market needs, customer insights, and competitive dynamics.
  • Support new product introductions and penetration of niche applications, including safety and digital valve solutions.
  • Develop long‑term relationships with key customers and senior stakeholders, positioning Emerson as a trusted partner.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams on project pursuits, early project engagement, and large opportunity conversion.
  • Prepare and present market analysis, forecasts, pricing insights, and competitive intelligence to support decision‑making.
  • Ensure strong opportunity management, accurate forecasting, and disciplined follow‑up of quotations and sales activities.
  • Promote and uphold Emerson’s values, ethics, trade compliance, and health, safety, and environmental standards in all activities.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety & Environment policies as laid by the organization.

  • An engineering background or equivalent practical experience in industrial, technical, or commercial environments.
  • Experience in sales, account management, technical sales, or business development within industrial markets.
  • Ability to lead sales initiatives, influence stakeholders, and manage complex commercial discussions.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Comfort working with business tools for forecasting, reporting, and customer engagement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the assigned territory as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience with flow control products, valves, or related automation solutions.
  • Exposure to mining, metals, or heavy industrial sectors in Southern Africa.
  • Experience driving digitalization, connected services, or installed‑base growth initiatives.

This job is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and will be responsible for driving the Flow Controls business for South & Southern Africa The Sales Manager will take responsibility to develop, direct and manage all Flow Controls sales, service and educational services activities as well as responsibility for the Digital Valve Controller and Digital Valve Services business development in Southern Africa and South Africa Mining Sector. This is a critical role combining technical expertise with sales skills in a high-profile differentiation market resulting in an impactful position.
