The Sr. Commodity Manager for resin, plastics, glass, gasket & insulation and wire & cable is responsible for proactively managing the total supply base performance and spend, develop, deploy and refine sourcing strategy for assigned commodities, identify the best suppliers for the company’s needs, negotiate pricing & contracts, and secure the overall supply chain of assigned commodity type of parts while adding value to the whole supply chain and mitigate risk for assigned manufacturing sites.

In this role, the Sr Commodity Manager for resin, plastics, glass, gasket & insulation and wire & cable will establish strategic actions to take the commodity to the desired level set by the organization working closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams at the different manufacturing sites. It is expected from the Commodity Manager to trigger all necessary actions to avoid shortages within the supply chain, excel on assigned suppliers base and constantly overseeing for cost avoidance, value added generation and supply base savings.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Implement commodity strategies to procure components of the assigned commodity in North America, Asia and other world areas.
  • Support to achieve cost-effectiveness and setting-up of consolidated supplier base for products and components as per the commodity strategy.
  • Help to develop, expand and consolidate current supply base by avoiding single source risks.
    • Develop and integral plan for management, maintenance and assessment of associated plastics, glass and gaskets tooling and molds.
  • Assist Sourcing group in the overall consolidation of insource/outsource strategies of commodities.
  • Contribute to project cost-effective by controlling costs and enhancing benefits when developing new parts.
  • Monitor & manage commodity trends, market indexes, budgets and overall constraints on supply.
  • Support manufacturing sites and/or distribution center in suppliers related issues
  • Attend business meetings and keep updated on developments.
  • Operate as the single source of contact between supplier and manufacturing sites or other areas.
  • Develop plans for supplier performance development, cost reduction, cost avoidance & projected savings.
  • Assist on the new product introduction and the different gates implementation.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • 6 - 8 years in Supply Chain and/or Procurement/Commodity management rolls with strong background in plastic injection, glass injection, rubber & gasket molding.
  • Bachelor´s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering International Business or Business Administration
  • Proficiency Level in English
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in the below areas:
    • Thermoforming & Thermosetting plastics
    • Injection molding process for plastic, rubber and gaskets
    • Proficiency level on handling different types of resins for molding rubber and plastics
    • Strong supplier portfolio and commercial relations with resin distributors and resin fabricators
    • Tooling/mold fabrication experience
    • Precision glass molding processes, finishing glass processes, tempering, polishing and sandblasting
    • Glass mold fabrication knowledge
    • Knowledge on different type of insulation material and fabrication processes
    • UL certification experience
    • Strong supplier portfolio and acquaintance suppliers relationship on above commodities
    • Technically skilled with pricing market trends, raw material indexing and contract management
