Engneering Manager - Electronics Background

Semiconductor System R&d has an immediate opening for an Engineering Manager. The Group Manager position is a high visibility role requiring daily interaction with NI Engineering Teams, and Executive Management. This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs, including the ability to gather requirements, generate specification documents, and interface across teams to design, implement and enhance NI products.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Motivate and engage a multi-disciplinary development team (technicians, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers)
- Manage projects from conception to release through the use of the System Development Process phases to drive project features, staffing needs, and schedule while maintaining aggressive timelines
- Accountable for plan development and program execution to meet scope, cost, and timeline goals while maintaining long-term quality, sustainability, and customer satisfaction
- Drive efforts to mitigate risks and constant ability to drive tradeoff decisions within and across projects
- Cross-manage project dependencies by collaborating with other managers and organizations
- Determine resource needs, secure internal and external resources and adjust resource assignments as needed throughout the project
- Identify talent gaps and recommend investment changes to build a more effective team
- Ensure efficient and timely collaboration with R&D teams, manufacturing, hardware services, compliance, test engineering, and other supporting teams to accomplish the release of your product/system
- Effectively communicate program status, tradeoffs, and risks to collaborators, including senior executives
- Communicate clearly and be able to provide appropriate messaging depending on the audience
- Drive cross organizational resolution of customer quality issues
- Run group and program audit meetings (technical, schedule, status reporting, etc.)
- Directly manage team members by coaching them, eeing opportunities to drive velocity, and removing roadblocks while maintaining priority on their development and career growth
- Be effective at resolving issues and identifying when concern is appropriate
- Drive a team to deeply understand the customer/industry need in order anticipate problems and think through multiple perspectives for the best overall solution
- Mediate and influence technical discussions and key business trade-offs to facilitate decisions
- Able to extend decision-making skills to business, technical, and customer tradeoffs and communicate clear recommendations
- Able to self-manage and prioritize your own time to make the best day-to-day decisions for yourself, your team, and your projects.

You are a leader who is self- driven, shows tremendous amount of initiative and gracefully handles ambiguity. You possess strong leadership skills and have a consistent track record of developing and implementing strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
- 8+ years of combined professional experience (including project and schedule management)
- Proven Project management skills
- Strong cross functional collaboration skills and an ability to influence others without authority
- Experience working with various geographies and functions
- Work effectively in an ambiguous environment
- Communication skills, analytical attitude, and effective problem-solving skills
- Dedicated and motivated individual who can volunteer for new challenges without being asked
- Proficient in multitasking and maintaining attention to detail while effectively managing multiple projects and teams
- Effectively prioritize projects and tasks
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
- 8+ years of combined professional experience
- Background designing products (systems, software, and/or hardware)
- 4+ years of experience managing a team of engineers or in a leadership role
- Familiar with Semiconductor design validation tests and workflows
- Background in complex system development
- Hands-on experience using NI software and hardware products
- Previous R&D experience
