Principal Tax Accountant

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage and coordinate tax compliance for selected entities across APAC jurisdiction.
• Ensure and review compliance with tax regulatory and filing requirements
• Manage tax queries, audits, and authority engagements
• Interpreting local and international tax statutes, regulations, and legislation
• Provide guidance and practical advice on local tax issues
• Partner with management in the monitoring and reporting of local tax incentives
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing related to tax matters.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting with an emphasis in tax or other four-year degree with equivalent accounting and tax experience is preferred
• CPA or equivalent accounting certification is preferred
• The candidate should have 6+ years of tax experience, including industry or public accounting/Big 4 experience
• A high level of computer and system skills and excellent communication skills are essential
• High proficiency in spoken and written English
• Experience working in a multi-national environment would be a strong advantage
• Experience working in a tech environment would be an advantage
• Malaysian tax knowledge is required with a strong preference for multi-country/regional tax experience

Candidate will be expected to monitor tax legislation and research various tax issues as they arise. The candidate will interact with local and regional finance managers and staff, outside tax advisors, and internal and external auditors. The role will have a primary focus on Malaysia, with additional responsibilities supporting selected APAC countries.
