If you are a Technical Writer Manager professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, Emerson Test & Measurement (T&M) is seeking a talented and experienced leader to join the Documentation Services organization within R&D. In this role, you will lead a team of technical writers responsible for delivering high-quality documentation across multiple products and domains. You will support team development, partner with project managers, and collaborate with stakeholders to define priorities and ensure successful outcomes that meet both customer and business needs. As part of a broader transformation, you will also contribute to advancing documentation quality, consistency, and efficiency across the customer journey.
- Develop and grow technical writers through coaching, feedback, and career development support
- Manage performance and support the professional growth of team members
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality, usable documentation that meets user and business needs
- Partner with documentation project managers to support successful delivery outcomes
- Enable team effectiveness by providing clear direction and support
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align documentation with product priorities
- Influence stakeholders to improve documentation outcomes and user experience
- Work with other Documentation leaders to help define the direction of the organization
- Foster an environment of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Identify efficiency gain opportunities and drive improvements within the team
- Drive the adoption and effective use of tools and technologies, including AI-assisted solutions, to strengthen team efficiency and documentation outcomes
- 1–2 years of experience leading and developing teams, including performance management and coaching
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple functions and levels
- Experience working with technical subject matter
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to develop and grow individuals and build high-performing teams
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound decisions
- Business-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering value to customers and the organization
- Ability to think strategically and at a systems level, connecting team output to broader organizational goals
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and support team delivery in a dynamic environment
- Educational background in English, Technical Communication, or a writing-intensive or technical discipline
- Familiarity with AI-assisted writing tools and their use in documentation workflows
