Position Overview

National Instruments (NI) is seeking a Strategic Account Manager to join our team in the Silicon Valley / Bay Area—one of NI’s fastest-growing regions. This high-visibility role requires a professional with a strong technical background, sharp business acumen, and a relentless growth mindset. You will serve as the commercial mastermind partnering with industry titans to align their business objectives and product design cycles with NI’s tools, services, and roadmap investments.

In this role, you will lead growth and strategy across high-impact, bleeding-edge sectors: Big Physics, the Future of Mobility, Semiconductors and Satellite Communication.

Core Responsibilities

  • Account Strategy & Execution: Work with multiple internal and external stakeholders across functions and geographies to develop, own, and execute comprehensive account strategies.
  • Opportunity Identification: Apply advanced sales prospecting, networking, and due diligence to identify high-impact business opportunities that drive substantial revenue impact for NI.
  • Relationship & Influence Management: Constantly expand NI’s area of influence by engaging new groups and customer leadership. Manage, influence, and close sales opportunities by deeply understanding customer business, personal, and technical needs.
  • Value Realization: Connect customer challenges to the distinct value NI provides through our technical systems, services, and partner ecosystem. Represent customer needs internally to drive NI's future investment and product directions.
  • Project & Deal Management: Apply strong problem-solving and project management skills to drive progress on account strategies. Utilize negotiation skills to ensure favorable contractual terms and business outcomes for NI.

Job Requirements

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.

Citizenship Requirements - US Citizenship Required.

Professional Experience

A minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in technical sales, marketing, or a Business-to-Business (B2B) Sales occupation within the Test & Measurement , Semiconductor industry or similar High-Tech Vertical.

Your verified experience must include the following specific qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in technical sales or marketing roles managing complex accounts with long sales cycles.
  • 3 years of experience managing and executing large, complex accounts at both the tactical and strategic levels.
  • 3 years of experience selling in long sales cycles involving complex, custom engineering hardware and software solutions.
  • 3 years of experience selling Electronic Test & Measurement or Test Automation Tools to customers in high-tech industries (such as Semiconductor, Transportation, Consumer Electronics, or Healthcare).
  • 2 years of experience developing and maintaining executive-level relationships internally and externally.
  • 2 years of experience selling directly to engineering leadership, including the C-suite.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

  • Technical Background: Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering Discipline (specifically Electronics, Computer, Mechanical, or Computer Science).
  • Industry Performance: A demonstrated track record of delivering year-over-year revenue growth and managing enterprise customers within the Test & Measurement or Semiconductor market.
  • Leadership & Influence: Proven experience leading cross-functional sales teams (sales, technical, marketing) and engaging senior customer leadership or C-suite executives.
  • Domain Expertise: Familiarity with semiconductor validation and production environments, as well as automotive, aerospace, or advanced physics test methodologies.
  • NI Ecosystem Knowledge: Working knowledge of Test and Measurement Instrumentation, including NI products such as LabVIEW, TestStand, PXI, and DAQ platforms.
