Establish new suppliers and qualify components for production

Represent Supplier Quality Engineering on New Product Development teams

Perform audits of suppliers’ quality management systems and processes.

Create qualification plans and verify Production Part Approval Process deliverables.

Participate in stage gate development process to qualify suppliers or components.

Monitor and manage the quality of purchased components

Respond to supplier quality issues and lead disposition of supplier non-conformances and actions identified on each instance thru the Andon process.

Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers thru Supplier Corrective Action Requests to eliminate recurrence of non-conformaces.

Develop receiving inspection plans and verification methods.

Contol and maintain minimum inventory levels of discrepant material at MRB (Material Review Board).

Manages and dispose supplier non-conformances in a timely manner.


Supplier quality engineers (SQEs) are responsible for ensuring quality of parts from suppliers in accordance with Emerson requirements. They perform supplier audits and actively participate in supplier development and qualification. SQEs serve as the liaison for suppliers, identify quality related problems and implement corrective actions to increase quality reliability, they are problem solvers who use their advanced analytical skills to find solution to issues in collaboration with other engineers and areas in a team environment, they also lead multiple projects to completion. The scope of these responsibilities applies to raw material and components used directly in the products manufactured in TF.
