Tactical Purchasing Specialist

- Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders and manage open purchase order reports.
- Partner with suppliers to obtain purchase order acknowledgements, delivery confirmations, and order status updates.
- Maintain accurate confirmation and delivery dates within enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Respond to purchase order and material-related inquiries from manufacturing plants and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor supply and demand requirements and support inventory replenishment decisions.
- Review and process system-generated planning exceptions such as expedite, defer, or reschedule actions.
- Coordinate with suppliers to maintain accurate promise dates and order confirmations.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, including Category Managers, Production and Inventory Control teams, and Value Stream leaders to support material availability.
- Support supplier relationship management initiatives and work with supplier performance and category management teams to improve supplier delivery, responsiveness, quality, and service levels.
- Partner with finance teams to help facilitate timely supplier payment resolution.
- Complete material master setup activities and maintain data accuracy within ERP systems.
- Manage requisition-to-purchase order conversion activities for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) purchases.
- Validate supplier lead times and ensure alignment with operational requirements.
- Support material master data audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate actions, resolutions, and updates effectively with plant and site buyers.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to supplier and operational performance.
- Escalate supplier delivery challenges to supply chain and planning leadership as appropriate.
- Monitor and help resolve parked or blocked invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support supplier negotiations related to cost, delivery, and inventory objectives while maintaining strong supplier partnerships.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance procurement efficiency, supplier performance, and business results.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing, or a related operational environment.
- Knowledge of sourcing practices, supply chain processes, procurement operations, contracting principles, and supplier management.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar business platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
- Proficiency with digital tools and reporting platforms used for data analysis, reporting, and supply chain decision-making.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and other business applications for data management and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- Experience supporting supplier performance, sourcing initiatives, procurement operations, or material planning activities.
- Exposure to data visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar platforms.
- Project management experience or project management certification.
- Experience working within a global or matrixed organization.
- Flexibility to support business requirements across different shift schedules, including 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, or 4:30 PM to 1:30 AM.
