Overview
We are seeking a Senior Equity Research Associate to join our top ranked team to support fundamental coverage of the airlines, lodging and travel/leisure sectors. This role blends traditional sell-side research responsibilities — financial modeling, earnings analysis, and thesis development — with an increased emphasis on leveraging Evercore ISI’s leading and innovative AI investments to improve our research process (the future of equity research is being defined here). The successful candidate will build and maintain industry-specific datasets and company-specific financial models to generate proprietary, differentiated insights.
Core Responsibilities
Fundamental Research & Modeling (Primary)
- Build and maintain detailed quarterly and annual financial models for covered companies, including forward estimates, segment detail, and scenario/sensitivity analysis
- Produce timely and concise written financial research, including earnings previews, flash notes, and thesis pieces with clear conclusions
- Track and analyze quarterly earnings, guidance changes, and management commentary
- Monitor company filings, transcripts, investor presentations, and industry news/ data
Data analysis skills
- Build dashboards/visualizations summarizing large datasets into concise outputs for senior analyst and institutional clients
- Build reusable analytical frameworks and apply statistical methods to produce actionable insights.
- Database design, Python, SQL skills and plus
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS or Finance with a passion for equity research
- Advanced Excel modeling skills/ large dataset analysis (pivot tables, lookups, indices)
- Excellent written communication skills; ability to distill complex data into clear, concise research output
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- 1–3 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, data analytics, or a related quantitative role
Preferred
- Prior equity or credit analysis experience or strong interest in airlines, lodging, or broader travel sectors
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation, automation, and analysis
- Exposure to statistical/quantitative methods (regression, hypothesis testing, time-series analysis)
- Experience with data visualization tools
- Database design and development a plus
What Success Looks Like
- High-quality, on-time modeling and earnings analysis with minimal errors
- Ability to independently scope, build, and maintain a dataset-driven analytical tool from raw data to publishable output
- Increasing autonomy in generating differentiated, data-backed thesis points for client-facing research
Expected Base Salary Range: $145,000 - $175,000
