The opportunity - What future are you building towards?

Our Operations consultants are part of the Supply Chain & Operations team of EY and have a passion to advise and support clients to sustainably improve their business results. Our focus is on long term value for our clients by focusing on Customer, Social, Employee, and Financial value. Because of our integral focus, we apply our expertise in all layers of the organization and the full spectrum of business operations, e.g. strategy, organization, process, customer, employee, data, technology, leadership and culture. You will therefore know a steep learning curve with the opportunity to work and learn from different experts and a lot of variation in your work.

Foster a culture of learning and growth in continuous improvement for our clients

We believe that results and capability building at our clients should go hand in hand. We can only be successful if we do not only assess current results, pinpoint bottlenecks but also enable our clients to practice Continuous Improvement autonomously. Therefore, we follow the ‘Learn, Do, Teach’ method, where the standards that we practice will be picked up step by step by the target organization. With the right coaching skills and involvement with client’s employee up to leadership we enable them to work like the standards and use the methods and tools in their daily operations and embedding the new way of working in their corporate DNA. Coaching, challenging and supporting are the core activities in our day to day client work, that is needed for their sustainable success.

The SC&O team currently consists of 45 enthusiastic and motivated colleagues. This may sound overwhelming, but we ensure that we meet regularly (formally and informally) so that we are aware of the latest developments. The team has various expertise (such as manufacturing, supply chain and (public) operations). This gives you the opportunity to specialize and follow your passion, but you can also learn a lot from each other and explore different solutions and sectors.

What you will do - How can you make a lasting impact in a rapidly changing world?

As part of the Supply Chain & Operations team, you have an impact on client and customer from day one. You are the expert that leads the client in their journey towards Operational Excellence. How?

  • By quickly understanding the problems and getting to the right decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic context.
  • By performing full organizational analyses to identify improvement potential, benchmarking clients against competitors and developing dashboards to track results.
  • By training and coaching the client into Continuous Improvement, setting them up for long-term success. By proactively and cooperatively working together to bring our team to the next level and contribute to its high performance and good atmosphere.

You have

  • A Master's degree with exceptional grades in the field of Business, Management, Economics, Econometrics, Operations, Engineering etc.
  • >2 year work experience in (Strategy) Consulting, Business Analytics or Operational Excellence in a service organization
  • Excellent coaching skills: Active listening, questioning, and showing empathy to provide the right feedback and feedforward on the standards, methods and tools in Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities with strong problem-solving skills and a fierce result-orientation
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • A healthy dose of pragmatism and resilience (under pressure)

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A passion for Operational Excellence or Continuous Improvement
  • Been in touch with end-to-end processes such as order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, hire-to-retire, etc.
  • Experience with project management and Lean Six Sigma in the private sector
  • Affinity and/or experience with data (analytics) and IT
  • Affinity with and/or experience with change management
  • European language skills other than English or Dutch

    • Salary: in addition to your fixed salary, depending on EY's financial performance, you may be eligible for a bonus. You are also entitled to an expense allowance (depending on the position) and an internet allowance of €40 net per month
    • Time off: you are entitled to 29 vacation days per year when full-time employed and you have the option to purchase additional days.
    • Sabbatical: the option to take unpaid leave after consultation
    • Birth leave: EY will pay 100% of the birth leave; in the case of additional birth leave, EY will pay 70% of the salary
    • Training and education: EY believes it's important to provide everyone with the opportunity for continuous development. Therefore, we offer various soft and hard skills training programs, external courses, and the possibility to enroll in additional education. For example, you can obtain an MBA to broaden your skills in leadership, business, and tech
    • Mobility: contribute directly to our ambition to reduce EY's carbon footprint to zero by 2025. With the new scheme, you can choose from diverse sustainable options through the EY My Daily Travel app or online platform. This includes lease bicycles, electric shared scooters, electric shared cars, flexible lease cars, and various subscriptions for public transport. You can also track your CO2 footprint using the app
    • Bicycle arrangement: finance the purchase cost of your new bicycle through a monthly deduction from your gross salary (the purchase cost is spread over 12 months) or from your non-statutory holiday entitlement
    • Pension scheme: you will start building a pension capital immediately upon joining EY. Each month, a premium is allocated to your pension account with our pension provider. You also have the option to voluntarily contribute additional funds to your pension

The office

Our office in Amsterdam is located on the Zuidas: a bustling area where many companies are based. In our Cross Towers, as many as 1000 people are welcomed daily. Haven't had breakfast yet? Recruitment procedure – How can you prepare for a long life together?

The application process consists of a telephone screening, a skills and personality test, and two interviews (including a business case).


A pre-employment screening will also be part of the process. Due to laws and regulations, and because EY (and in some cases its clients) has high demands on the reliability and integrity of its employees, every new employee will be screened. Depending on your rank the pre-employment screening could contain the following: Certificate of Conduct (in Dutch: VOG) or - if requesting a Dutch VOG is not possible - Criminal Background Check of the country you are currently living or have lived during the last five years, integrity questionnaire, verification of ID, diploma’s and/or work experience and consultation of the Dutch insolvency registry.
