The opportunity

EY is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager in Calgary Technology Assurance team, where you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing the trust and confidence in our clients' information systems and also grow EY’s footprint in the market.
Your key responsibilities
The candidate will be required to participate in both internal and external audit services. This includes, but not limited to:
Execution/Client delivery
- External audits: Oversee engagements to test and opine on efficacy of IT general controls (ITGCs) and IT application controls (ITACs) to support financial statement audits / integrated audits (Internal Controls for Financial Reporting)
- Internal audits/SOX compliance testing: assist clients in designing and implementing ITGCs and ITACs to support SOX compliance. Assist testing of ITGCs and ITACs to confirm efficacy of controls. Lead internal audit / assessment engagements for clients to help confirm alignment with leading cybersecurity practices (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, etc.)
- Service organization reporting – Focus on the issuance of third-party reports in the form of 3416 reports, SOC 1, SOC 2 reports, etc.
- Provide high quality professional day-to-day management of internal/external audit engagements/projects and understand EY’s practices and service offerings and identify potential opportunities to improve such service offerings
- Lead and support on-site coordination role for audit clients including planning, briefing team on the client's IT environment and industry IT trends, communicating with the clients and completing audit engagements
- Maintain relationships with client management to manage expectations of service, including work products, timing, and the value to be delivered.
- Prepares IT external audit reports on the adequacy and effectiveness of control structure, along with practical recommendations to improve the effectiveness, efficiency of a control or process.
- Able to discuss and resolve audit issues and recommendations with client management.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex information systems and apply it to client situations
- Lead and provide relevant support to the teams of managers, senior consultants and consultants, including delivering formal IT Audit related trainings.
Business development
- Play a pivotal role in augmenting EY’s footprint in the market
- Develop and enhance relationships with current and potential clients
- Participate in high visibility industry initiatives/forums to enhance EY’s brand value and showcase EY’s service and product capabilities
- Contribute to the development of engagement plans and proposals for client needs.
- Work in collaboration with your local market leader in growing the Technology Assurance services market shares and enhancing our presence in key sectors and accounts
- Work with teams and personal networks to generate new business opportunities
General
- Lead external client consulting engagements involving the advancement of the CIO/CISO agenda
- Lead business development initiatives including service offering development and roll-out, proposal development, responding to RFP’s and participating in oral presentations
- Staying abreast of current business, industry and regulatory trends relevant to the client's business and overall local industry.
- Specialization in a particular area, service offering or industry and ability to support subject matter advisors and relevant go-to-market activities in this area.
- Manage the financial and commercial aspects of engagements by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders; and
- Build strong internal relationships within our national and global Technology Assurance practice and across EY’s service lines including Advisory, Tax and Transactions.

To qualify for the role you must have
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in IT external and/or internal audit;
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Business Administration, Commerce, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other relevant program required.
- Must possess relevant audit and/or accounting designation(s) (e.g. CISA, CPA, CIA, etc.) is required
Plus Skills for the role
- Demonstrated knowledge of COBIT, ITIL, or other IT frameworks would be an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of service organization reporting standards would be an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of specific platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Windows, etc. would be an asset.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Hands on experience with project management or IT operations based in large enterprise resource planning systems such as Oracle Financials, SAP, etc. or information security would be an a
