GDS Consulting – OT/Integration Specialist/ Engineer in P&U-OT/Control Systems (ADMS, OMS, DERMS, AMI, SCADA plus AMI, SAP, GIS and Workforce management systems) – Senior

The opportunity

We’re looking for OT /Integration Specialist/ Engineer at Senior rank with expertise in OT system integration - ADMS, SAP, HES, MDMS – and with knowledge and experience around interface design, vendors, API development etc, to join the P&U Sector Team of GDS Consulting Team. Your key responsibilities

  • Analyse, understand and document client needs from a business perspective and work with the client to arrive at optimal solutions leveraging the experience and expertise in OT/ control systems (ADMS, OMS, DERMS, SCADA) integration with other OT and IT systems
  • Identify integration needs with any other in house/third party systems and provide detailed information about these systems to Solution Architects as well as Technical Team
  • Design and implement integration approach and methodology considering best industry practices and technologies for OT systems including ADMS, SAP, HES, and MDMS
  • Designing system integration interfaces, including choice of middleware, technologies, standards, patterns to detailed message definition
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to design integration and interfaces, resolve integration issues and ensure system compatibility
  • Participate in the full lifecycle of integration projects, from requirements gathering to deployment and support
  • Planning and managing development and delivery of integration interfaces, e.g. GIS, CIS, EAM, MDMS, AMI, CRM, SCADA, market platforms, etc
  • Designing, planning and managing delivery of utility/OT data engineering services common in these programmes, such as data assessments, collection, migration, validation, etc.
  • Identify potential risks associated with system integration and propose mitigation strategies
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on integration best practices
  • Act as an interface between client, vendor and technical Team
  • Support the functional testing, integration/ interface testing and other acceptance testing efforts for to ensure data exchange completeness and correctness
  • Supporting the evaluation of OT products and services (e.g. ADMS, DERMS, middleware platforms, etc.)
  • Explore opportunities for transformation and suggest ideas/recommend ways to transform the way the client works to be truly digital in the Digital Era to outperform competitors and gain advantage in the market

Skills and attributes for success

  • Knowledge of operational technology across one or multiple sectors (electricity mandatory, water/gas appreciated) and familiarity with technology solutions in the market
  • Proven experience with Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) implementation projects and solutions of leading ADMS vendors
  • Experience working with projects in the power and utilities sector, including with systems and applications such as:
    • Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA),
    • Outage management systems (OMS),
    • Distribution management systems (DMS),
    • Distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS),
    • Demand response management systems (DRMS),
    • Market management systems (MMS),
    • Transmission management systems (EMS),
    • Substation automation (SA),
    • Distribution automation (DA),
    • Mobile workforce management (MWFM),
    • Geographic information systems (GIS),
    • Customer information systems (CIS),
    • Meter data management systems (MDMS),
    • Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) head-ends,
    • Asset management,
    • Data management and analytics,
    • Utility telecommunication networks.
  • Experience and skills in IT integration, such as:
    • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and best practices
    • Knowledge of key IT integration technology concepts (web services, SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, etc.)
    • Knowledge of integration middleware products available in the market (enterprise service buses, message queues, API gateways, API management tools, etc.)
    • Familiarity with other applicable technologies used in technology project delivery, such as data queries, analysis and reporting, scripting, test automation, etc.
  • Experience and skills in utility IT/OT integration, such as:
    • Knowledge of data management practices, including master data strategy, utility network planning, design and mapping, asset management, asset commissioning, etc.
    • Experience with IEC 61968/61970 standards (Common Information Model)
    • Familiarity with other applicable standards used in utility OT project delivery, such as interoperability protocols, security standards, etc.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Relevant experience in OT/CS (ADMS, OMS, DERMS, SCADA) implementation/ integration/Technical advisory
  • Should be well versed with functional concepts of business analysis with relevant knowledge in OT/CS (ADMS, OMS, DERMS, SCADA) and Gap analysis
  • Should be well conversant in OT/CS (ADMS, OMS, DERMS, SCADA), products/technologies, frameworks, business metadata management and relevant architectural components.
  • Familiar with FAT/SAT/UAT testing of ADMS applications, interfaces with other IT/ OT systems
  • Previous working experience for US Grid and Utility clients
  • Strong business analysis skills
  • Strong command over business process design

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Degree in electrical engineering or computer science
  • Knowledge of applicable standards in system integration, data exchange methods, middleware and protocols
  • Good business writing & communication skills
  • Maintaining end-to-end accountability and expectations for customer satisfaction and overall delivery excellence
  • Prioritize deliveries in conjunction with implementation and integration teams
  • Adopt a proactive, logical, and organized approach to problem resolution
  • Any relevant product/platform certification

What we look for

  • The incumbent should be able to analyse and manage Business requirements for OT/CS (ADMS, OMS, DERMS, SCADA) integration with other IT/ OT systems.
  • Additional knowledge of Business Process Mapping and BPM tools will be an added advantage.
