Position Summary:
Project Management Office (PMO) Managers oversee business projects and ensure that are completed on time and within budget. They also ensure all team members uphold the company's standards throughout each project's development and execution. The responsibilities of the PMO Manager include managing the day-to-day activities in the PMO, providing guidance on PMO policies and processes, overseeing project management staff, and collaborating with other department leaders to develop projects and programs.
To be successful as a PMO Manager, you should demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch PMO Manager should be well organized and able to work under pressure.
Essential Functions of the Job:
The major areas include:
- Stakeholder Management responsibilities
- Develop a engagement model for a seamless approach to governance and interaction with the SDC and the regional engagement Leadership.
- Manage multiple stakeholder communities at varying levels of experience and agenda’s and be responsible for overseeing the relationship
- Ensure effective deployment of the MS assets in the location through various delivery methodologies
- Utilize existing relationships to develop business opportunities as well as promote the MS assets.
- Act as location wise brand ambassador of MS
- Co-ordinate with the on-ground asset users for deploying the asset
- Identify & resolve risks and issues during deployment
- Lead the activity of finalizing the review and deployment of the MS assets at respective locations
- Actively participate in MS asset design requirements discussion
People responsibilities
- Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff
- Help to capture feedback from the location stakeholders
- Ensure resolution of queries raised by asset users
- Coordinate with location SMEs and MS pillar leads for design, development and deployment of the asset.
Primary Objectives:
- Since PMO managers oversee a range of employees working on different elements of a project, their job duties vary widely. Even though they report to senior management and stakeholders, PMO managers set deadlines, delegate tasks to project staff and verify that each project meets the proper standards. While the day-to-day responsibilities may vary based on the industry.
- Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills who can build rapport with the client and prove credibility
- Highly flexible with a willingness to ‘get their hands dirty’ as well as providing strategic direction and leadership
- Bring FS knowledge, delivery leadership skills and experience to the client which they may not have access to internally
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
- Motivated and shows willingness to move career forward quickly through a variety of stakeholder interactions and assignments that will push and challenge you on a daily basis
Other Requirements:
As a PMO Manager, you may work under challenging circumstances frequently. It's important to operate with a clear understanding of finance while managing competing projects and responsibilities. Here are a few skills a PMO manager
Job Requirements:
Education:
- MBA with an emphasis in Compliance, Risk, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related financial field.
- Professional delivery certification- PMP, Prince 2 or relevant Agile certification such as PSM I, PSPO I, PSL I is desirable
- Any course / certification in a solution focused design is desirable (design thinking, etc.)
Experience:
- A minimum of 10+ years of related work experience
- Excellent understanding of the operation of key Project and Program Controls:
- Governance Structures and Stakeholder Management
- Programme and Project Reporting operation
- RAIDs Management
- Project planning
- Management of program and project plans
- Proven experience in deployment and change management
- Knowledge of Program and project management tooling (Planning and reporting tools) is extremely desirable
- Significant delivery experience with Agile exposure, together with the flexibility to work across delivery methodologies
- Evidence of performing a PMO role through a full end-to-end project lifecycle for at least 2 initiatives
- A minimum of five years’ experience of project and program delivery
