The opportunity

You will help organizations drive Finance transformation across the entire lifecycle, starting from the post-completion phase of mergers and acquisitions through to the development of an established stage where the finance function sufficiently supports the client's expected outcomes.

Ultimately, you will guide them toward a value creation state where finance operations are optimized for strategic decision-making and aligned with overall business objectives, enabling sustainable growth and competitive advantage.

Your key responsibilities

  • Assess: Collaborate closely with the Transaction Diligence team to identify key issues, potential risks, and gaps within the Finance function and relevant areas during the post-merger and acquisition phase. Analyze their impacts and root causes through comprehensive maturity assessments, ensuring a thorough understanding of the current state.
  • Design: Develop a robust finance operating model tailored to management’s target state, aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies while implementing appropriate controls. Ensure alignment of finance technology and data with system architecture, talent capabilities, and performance metrics to drive strategic objectives. Additionally, evaluate opportunities for post-deal value creation through effective integration strategies that align financial operations with overall business objectives.
  • Support for Transformation: Oversee transition activities to facilitate the adoption of the new operating model and the implementation of new systems and/or processes. This may include setting up the Transformation Office program, preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), facilitating finance system implementations, and planning training programs and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Project Management: Support transformation initiatives by overseeing/tracking project status, identifying key issues and risks, and developing mitigation actions to resolve the issues, while ensuring that project timelines and quality standards are met. Facilitate communication and collaboration across teams to drive successful project outcomes, effectively managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced professional services environment and cope with undefined situations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good client relationships.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A Bachelor's degree with at minimum two to three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, planning, order-to-cash, purchase-to-pay, and record-to-report.
  • Knowledge of and experience with financial information systems such as SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, Cognos, and/or other common finance systems.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for the Associate level.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to identify opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 80% on short notice.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in finance transformation projects, including process redesign, project management, and the implementation of finance technology initiatives focused on business process improvement or optimization, such as ERP or automation solutions.
  • Experience in post-deal integrations, divestitures, and/or carve-outs.
