The Global Strategic Enablement Lead (GSE) role is key in overseeing, coordinating and driving strategic initiatives across global Tax. This role involves strategic planning, project oversight and thought leadership as well as stakeholder collaboration across Tax SSLs, markets, clients, industries, sectors and competencies, operations, risk management and performance monitoring. The GSE ensures that projects align with the organizational goals, ultimately driving operational efficiency and collaboration across multiple countries.
Your key responsibilities
The GSE is an Associate Director-ranked role and will work as part of a team of four GSE’s supporting all global Tax SSLs, markets, clients, industries, sectors and competencies. Their responsibilities typically include:
- Collaborating with senior leadership to define project goals and align them with the organization’s overall strategy.
- Managing the execution of multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope.
- Monitoring industry developments and best practices to recommend improvements and innovations in business strategy and management.
- Providing thought leadership and insights on key issues impacting Tax clients across different SSLs, markets, industries, sectors and competencies, enhancing EY’s market position.
- Creating and deploying market materials to educate account teams on specific offerings and initiatives.
- Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes.
- Developing and implementing solutions to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of technology operations within Global Tax SSLs.
- Communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leaders and project teams across multiple countries to ensure alignment and address any concerns, while navigating diverse cultural contexts and ensuring sensitivity to local practices and regulations.
- Collaborating with key functions such as Talent, Finance, BMC, Technology, Knowledge Insights and Operations to ensure cohesive strategy execution and alignment.
- Providing guidance and oversight to Technology PMO and Global Client Technology portfolio managers, resulting in improved collaboration between Tax and technology.
- Teaming with BMC to elevate the brand, building awareness both internally and externally.
- Developing content for relevant calls, webcasts and meetings.
- Establishing metrics and KPIs to assess project performance and implementing improvements as necessary.
- Conducting periodic and ad hoc financial analysis, budget management and reporting.
- Identifying and allocating resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and technology, to support project initiatives.
The position holder will perform other responsibilities and tasks as required to achieve the agreed performance outcomes.
Analytical/decision making responsibilities:

- Ability and authority to resolve challenges related to specific projects that are of varying complexity.
Supervision responsibilities:
- Responsible for coaching and developing other team members and ensuring the core team collaborate and work effectively together.
- Directing GDS enablement team members to support with delivery of high standard materials.
- Responsible for executing the strategic direction and operational excellence of Tax, acting as role model to others.

- Strong skills and prior experience with work across geographically dispersed virtual teams
- Highly seasoned project management skills and experience with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple strategic, complex projects and initiatives simultaneously. Must be well organized to drive initiatives forward across a varied set of stakeholders and deadlines.
- Proven ability to work closely with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels, including senior leaders, to influence and deliver desired outcomes. Exceptional written and verbal communication, listening, and interpretation skills enable effective presentation and consultation. Adept at collaborating with varied personalities and work styles, while maintaining professionalism and integrity, especially in time-sensitive initiatives.
- Excellent attention to detail with a proven track record in supporting executive teams in a high-performing environment and ability to collaborate/develop thought leadership content.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as pragmatism to drive outcomes that are both financially sound and operationally feasible.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with high technology skills.
Education:
- University/Bachelor’s degree in Tax/Commerce/Business Management or related field.
- Additional professional qualifications, such as PRINCE2® or PMP, are desirable.
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in a professional services firm or large global organization in an advisory role.
- Considerable experience of operating and influencing across multiple levels of an organization and working with global virtue teams/networks.
- Project management experience and excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with a track record in managing complex stakeholder programs.
- Good understanding of project governance and change management principles.
- Understanding of P&L and general firm financials
