The opportunity

  • The Mobility Assignment Services Senior Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for a Service Line, Country(s) or allocated Rank grouping within a designated region, ensuring that Mobility assignments are not only compliant and efficient but also contribute meaningfully to career development and business outcomes.
  • This role will assess business needs and recommend tailored Mobility solutions that reflect best practices, policy alignment, and operational feasibility. They will also enhance the assignee experience by managing assignments mindfully across their lifecycle, ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery and intentional Talent outcomes.
  • The Senior Specialist also serves as a connector, bridging Talent, Finance, and other CBS functions to ensure seamless assignment execution and support. Through collaboration with home and host Mobility teams, and oversight of offshore support via the Virtual Talent Hub (VTH), the Senior Specialist orchestrates a cohesive and well-managed Mobility process.
  • The Senior Specialist is responsible for utilizing the Mobility GMT system to maintain data integrity and accuracy throughout the assignment lifecycle, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and reflective of the current status of assignments. This utilization supports informed decision-making and enhances reporting capabilities.
  • Beyond delivery, the Senior Specialist contributes to continuous improvement by monitoring vendor performance on assignments, escalating issues appropriately, and feeding insights back into operational and strategic enhancements. They play a key role in shaping the assignee experience, ensuring clarity, responsiveness, and support throughout the assignment journey.

Purpose of the Job

  • Act as the primary Mobility point of contact for one or more Service Lines, Country(s) or allocated Rank grouping in your Region and manage all phases of in-bound and out-bound assignment management (pre assignment, on assignment, repatriation, extensions, and post assignment).
  • Act as a trusted advisor to your stakeholders, applying an understanding of business needs and Mobility policies to develop solutions.
  • Work closely with Stakeholders to understand the business case of newly initiated assignments, and apply the global Mobility policy framework to map and determine the appropriate assignment category and relocation package which aligns to the needs of the business as well as the assignee.
  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders in the various Regional Core Business Service (CBS) functions such as Talent and Finance to ensure they are equipped to successfully support Mobility.
  • Partner with home/host Mobility Senior Specialists in the development of the appropriate assignment packages, and work closely with them to manage all phases of the assignments.
  • Support and guide service line, finance and Talent stakeholders as needed, to influence the budgeting approach, supporting their workforce planning, talent development and retention objectives, through the use of relevant data.
  • Instruct the offshore support team, the Virtual Talent Hub (VTH), on all activities as per scope of service, and review and monitor output.
  • Utilize the GMT system to manage assignment data effectively, ensuring data integrity and accuracy throughout all phases of assignment management, while leveraging insights for informed decision-making and reporting.
  • Apply knowledge of Tax and Immigration regulations to support the business in managing risk and to ensure effective assignment planning.
  • Apply understanding of HR principles such as recruitment and selection, career management, performance reviews, termination, remuneration, induction/on- boarding, and employee relations to ensure effective alignment with Mobility procedures.
  • Monitor vendor services to ensure consistent and exceptional service delivery, manage exceptions and issues for resolution and provide feedback to continually improve operations.
  • Escalate issues with the appropriate network (i.e., MAS leadership, SL Mobility Business Partners, Talent Management etc.).
  • Ensure assignee is fully briefed and informed at all stages of the process to ensure understanding of the critical milestones, legislation, and documentation to be completed.
  • Action and manage all major on-assignment events for assignees, including salary review, payroll cut-off dates and annual allowance reviews.
  • Maintain frequent communication with assignees to ensure their assignment is progressing as planned and assist in resolving any issues.
  • Assist in the development of others by providing feedback and recognizing accomplishments.
  • Actively take responsibility for the training and development of junior and VTH team members, including counselling responsibilities where appropriate.

Supervision Responsibilities

This role may have supervision responsibility for dedicated VTH resources.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Good knowledge and experience of international Mobility, policies, processes, and systems. Equus Assignment Pro knowledge is an advantage.
  • General knowledge of HR principles – recruitment and selection, career management, performance reviews, termination, remuneration, induction/ on- boarding, employee relations etc.
  • Good understanding of Tax, Immigration, and social security legislation, as well as relevant employment law and other business or economic forces.
  • Good understanding of payroll requirements to draft accurate instructions for the amendment of compensation packages and payments relating to the assignment terms.
  • Good level of business acumen, knowledge of EY’s All in business strategy and priorities and the firm-wide talent agenda.
  • Good understanding of how EY operates, the organization structure and culture in order to deliver exceptional assignment services and to achieve intended talent outcomes for business and assignees.
  • Good understanding of Tax and Immigration legislation, as well as relevant employment law and other business or economic forces.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels including colleagues within other regions, Service Line stakeholders, Talent Team, - Tax and Immigration teams, as well as external vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize objectives and manage all aspects of the role.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development through training, certifications, and industry conferences to stay current with best practices and advancements in global Mobility.

Education

Educated to professional qualification in a related discipline is preferred.

Experience

Good experience in Mobility, HR operations, or related field.

Certification Requirements

Relevant professional certification in a related discipline.
