The Opportunity
The Security Technology Services (STS) group is a division of Information Security that ensures secure access to systems and information for more than 400,000 individuals across over 150 countries. We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Enterprise Data Architect to join our team, focusing on both business and technical data models within Information Security. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in generative AI, secure data architectures, governance, and cloud platforms. This role will concentrate on modernizing and designing data systems that enable trustworthy and explainable AI applications while ensuring security and compliance.
As a Data Architect on the STS team, you will be responsible for transforming strategic plans into actionable solutions by producing architectural designs, leading the development and implementation of data systems, and providing security guidance to project teams. You will oversee experimental projects to identify the best technology choices for integration into EY's infrastructure, leveraging your expertise in generative AI and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement through performance monitoring and training initiatives.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and deliver impactful strategic plans improving data integration, data quality, and data delivery in support of business initiatives and roadmaps
- Define and implement the long-term technology strategy and innovations roadmaps across analytics, data engineering, and data platforms
- Collaborate closely with the Strategy team to both influence and incorporate organizational strategy
- Manage senior business stakeholders to secure strong engagement and ensure that the delivery of the project aligns with longer-term strategic roadmaps
- Connect with key stakeholders, cybersecurity experts, and operational teams within the Information Security department to create scalable security solutions
- Translate high-level business requirements into data models and appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards
- Simplify the existing data architecture, delivering reusable services and cost-saving opportunities in line with the policies and standards of the company
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks that ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across all data systems and applications, integrating risk management principles into the design and operational processes
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to ensure solutions align with the company's long-term goals, adhere to design guidelines, and contribute to project direction when necessary
- Work with IT teams, business analysts, and data analytics teams to understand data consumers’ needs and develop solutions
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to gather requirements, facilitate discussions, and ensure that data solutions meet business needs and compliance requirements
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications for solutions, considering risks, dependencies, costs, and the overall risk of the technical solution
- Lead the development of secure semantic retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures that effectively manage and interconnect structured & unstructured data
- Integrate large language models (LLMs) with effective metadata governance and ontology enrichment processes
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership for strategic decision-making
- Provide data architecture thought leadership at an enterprise level
- Select and implement database management systems that meet the organization’s needs by defining data schemas, optimizing data storage, and establishing data access controls and security measures
- Design the structure and layout of data systems, including databases, warehouses, and data lakes
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, data privacy, and security standards, implementing best practices for data governance, risk management, and cybersecurity
- Ensure data integrity through zero-trust prompt orchestration and model observability
- Architect and implement data lake houses and master data management (MDM) solutions
- Produce robust governed analytics solutions using tools such as Databricks and Microsoft’s Synapse
- Modernize cloud migration processes and construct data products that foster governed self-service analytics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and best practices in data governance
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning

- Skilled in Microsoft Synapse, Azure Data Lake/Factory, Databricks, Archer, GRC or IRM solutions
- Strong ability in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C/C++
- Ability in data science languages/tools such as SQL, R, SAS, or Excel
- Proficiency in the design and implementation of modern data architectures and concepts such as cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), real-time data distribution (Kafka, Dataflow), and modern data warehouse tools (Snowflake, Databricks)
- Experience with database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, Hadoop, or Teradata
- Understanding of entity-relationship modeling, metadata systems, and data quality tools and techniques
- Ability to assess traditional and modern data architecture components based on business needs
- Experience with business intelligence tools and technologies such as ETL, Power BI, and Tableau
- Ability to regularly learn and adopt new technology, especially in the ML/AI realm
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to Sentinel, ServiceNow CMDB, APM and ITSM Databases
- Profound knowledge of security technologies, including:
- Extensive hands-on experience with application security, data architecture, security analytics, and threat intelligence solutions
- Familiarity with data security frameworks and standards
- Knowledge of secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) processes
- Practical experience in applying security controls across various programming languages and frameworks
- Quick learner, able to gain expertise in new technology areas swiftly
- Flexible and capable of adapting to the ever-changing landscape of technology and global complexities
- Proven track record in fostering client-service relationships and valuing internal customers
- Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate large volumes of complex information to senior management of various technical understandings
- Ability to collaborate and excel in complex, cross-functional teams involving data scientists, business architects, business analysts, and stakeholders
- Ability to guide solution design and architecture to meet business needs
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, effectively engaging executive leadership
- Consideration for the perspectives of diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical
- Experience in crafting security architecture documentation, including vision statements, Conceptual Architecture, Logical and Solution Architecture artifacts
- Aptitude for identifying and implementing opportunities for cybersecurity improvements and transformations
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 16+ years of experience in the Information Technology field
- 8+ years of senior data architecture experience, with exposure to enterprise architecture teams
- 6+ years of experience working with Data modeling, governance and taxonomy
Ideally, You’ll Also Have One or More
- Security certifications such as CISSP or CISM
- TOGAF or AI architecture framework
- SANS Certifications including GSEC, ECSA, ECSP

Other geographies will follow their local salary guidelines, which may not be a direct conversion of published US salary ranges. - We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $152,700 to $294,000. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $183,300 to $334,100. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
- Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
