Senior – Benchmarking and Strategic Intelligence

The Opportunity
In the People Consulting team, we help our clients with:
- Performance – effectively manage change through developing innovative, digitally centric behaviour-led strategies for operating model changes, technology shifts, and M&A.
- HR Transformation – design HR operating models, shared services, organization structures, digital technology enablement, and HR process improvement.
- Talent Optimization – develop workforce strategies, manage talent and people risk, build capability, and support cultural transformation.
- Rewards Optimization – design reward frameworks aligned to business strategy and optimize compensation and benefits for retention and well-being.
Our services extend across eight distinctive services: Organization Design & Planning, Talent Strategy & Management, Learning Services, Leadership Culture & DEI, Workforce Planning & Management, People Experience Design & Insights, Change Experience, and Managed Services.
Role Overview
This role sits at the intersection of strategic research, comparative benchmarking, and consulting enablement. It supports EY delivery teams across People Consulting and adjacent service lines such as Tax, Risk, and Technology Consulting.
As a Senior, you will lead the development of structured intelligence products that inform client engagements, offering development, and go-to-market strategies. You will work closely with consulting teams to ensure insights are contextualized, comparative, and actionable.
Key responsibilities
- Benchmarking & Organizational Intelligence
- Lead benchmarking workstreams across transformation and strategy projects
- Develop typology frameworks, comparative matrices, and insight decks for client engagements
- Maintain and evolve a repository of curated benchmarking studies, policy snapshots, and sector insights
- Strategic Intelligence & Market Foresight
- Curate intelligence briefs on emerging trends, policy shifts, and whitespace opportunities
- Analyze competitor offerings, positioning, and service line evolution to inform go-to-market strategy
- Support proposals with tailored market research and strategic differentiators
- Insight Translation & Consulting Enablement
- Collaborate with consulting teams to translate research outputs into actionable recommendations
- Contribute to thought leadership and offering development through curated insights
- Ensure alignment of benchmarking outputs with EY’s service taxonomy and client transformation agendas
- Data Visualization & Research Tools Fluency
- Design dashboards and visualize benchmarking data using Power BI / Tableau
- Deliver research outputs through advanced Excel modeling and executive-ready PowerPoint decks
- Leverage platforms such as Statista, Factiva, AlphaSense, and CB Insights for market intelligence
- Ensure data integrity, visualization clarity, and usability for client and internal stakeholders
Experience & Qualifications
Required
- 6–9 years of experience in strategic benchmarking, competitive intelligence, or market research within consulting or corporate strategy
- Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, Organizational Studies, or related research-intensive disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in cross-country comparative analysis, typology development, and strategic insight generation
- Familiarity with EY’s consulting service lines, especially in HR, public sector, and organizational transformation
Preferred
- Candidates with experience or interest in Government & Infrastructure, Industrials & Energy, or Financial Services will have an edge
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary consulting environments or supporting go-to-market strategy development
Skills & Attributes
- Strong analytical and synthesis skills with a portfolio of research deliverables
- Ability to translate complex data into strategic insights and visual narratives
- Skilled in designing benchmarking matrices, typology frameworks, and insight decks
- Comfortable with ambiguity, iterative research processes, and multi-stakeholder environments
- Collaborative mindset with experience working across consulting, research, and design teams
- Detail-oriented, intellectually rigorous, and driven by evidence-based thinking
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to confidently engage with clients and stakeholders
- Ability to present insights clearly and persuasively in client-facing settings
- Strong emotional intelligence and adaptability in dynamic consulting environments

- Syndicated Research Tools – Nielsen, Kantar, Ipsos, GfK (preferred know-how)
