EY, a global leader in assurance, tax transaction and advisory services, is looking for Senior Accountant in our Accounting Compliance and Reporting Department in North Macedonia

Job purpose

As a member of staff within the business tax compliance team, you'll make a technical contribution to accounting and business tax compliance engagements and internal projects. You'll actively establish internal and external relationships. You may participate in preparing VAT returns, corporate income tax returns, preparing management reports, bookkeeping, reconciling etc. With a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, you'll escalate issues as appropriate. You'll make sure that the work we deliver is of high quality when delivered for review by the next-level reviewer.

Client and people responsibilities

• Checks and validates that the entries in the local accounting system are in line with the applicable reporting requirements Performs month-end and year end closing operations in accordance with the statutory reporting requirements and regional/global policies;
• Manages accruals and prepayments;
• Re-conciliates between the local statutory accounting system and the reporting system;
• Collaborates with the client representative for the customization of the statutory ERP;
• Prepare/review the annual statutory financial statements and the monthly accounting reports for management purposes
• Prepare/review the monthly, quarterly VAT returns and corporate income tax returns
• Timely identify possible accounting and tax compliance issues and communicate these to the manager and/or partner
• Coordinate the accounting assistant and provide guidance on the accounting and tax work

To qualify, candidates should have:

• University degree in Economics (finance or accounting)
• 4 years experience as accountant and professional accountancy qualification
• experience in group accounting, management accounting
• Good knowledge and skills to understand and create customized reports to support reconciliations and ad hoc reports
• English language/ advanced level
• Excellent computer knowledge (MS Office) – advanced level
• Analytical thinking skills and team work
• Willingness to learn
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills
