Role Overview

The AI Experience Lead is a senior level design strategist responsible for shaping the future of user experience in an AI driven, agentic product ecosystem. This role leads the UX organization’s transformation toward AI native ways of working—defining the strategic direction, identifying the AI tools that will elevate design practice, and architecting new modes of interaction as products shift from UI led interfaces to agent orchestrated experiences.

As a cross functional thought leader, the AI Experience Lead partners with business leaders, engineering, data/AI teams, and innovation groups to incubate high value AI experience concepts and advance them toward scalable delivery. This role blends design leadership, product strategy, innovation management, and emerging tech fluency to guide the organization toward a modern, AI first experience model.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy for the UX Organization

  • Define and drive the UX organization’s AI strategy, including AI native design principles, operating models, and capability roadmaps.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend strategic AI tools, accelerators, workflows, and platforms that will shape how the UX team designs, prototypes, and collaborates.
  • Establish design governance for AI experiences—covering multimodal interaction, agent behavior patterns, trust and transparency, safety considerations, and experience quality standards.
  • Partner with AI and Technology leadership to ensure UX strategy aligns with AI platform architecture, engineering direction, and organizational priorities.

Lead UX Transformation for an Agentic Future

  • Redefine the role of UX in an environment where intelligent agents automate parts of interface creation and workflow execution.
  • Guide the team’s evolution from traditional UI craft toward:
    • Agent interaction architecture
    • Multi turn and multimodal experience flows
    • Agent to human orchestration patterns
    • Prompt and system behavior design
    • Supervisory and observability UX for agentic systems
  • Build an AI native UX capability through structured upskilling, experimentation, and process modernization.
  • Champion new operating rhythms grounded in rapid iteration, AI assisted ideation, and continuous validation.

Customer Centric AI Experience Innovation

  • Partner with service lines and regional innovation teams to uncover customer needs, pain points, and high value AI opportunity areas.
  • Lead the and incubation of differentiated AI powered experiences that advance organizational goals.
  • Maintain deep awareness of customer behaviours, industry dynamics, and emerging AI interaction patterns that shape user expectations.
  • Translate user insights and business objectives into well scoped problems, experience hypotheses, and clear quality requirements.

Leadership of AI Experience Delivery

  • Foster a self directed, creative team culture that values experimentation, continuous learning, and high performance outcomes.
  • Manage and prioritize the experience roadmap during early stage discovery and incubation.
  • Ensure alignment with NITRO’s innovation processes, governance structures, and architectural standards.
  • Advance validated concepts into formal product development through seamless handoffs to Engineering and Technology Operations.
  • Support business case development with insights grounded in incubation outcomes, user validation, and experience differentiation.

Evangelism and Organizational Influence

  • Serve as a visible champion for AI driven experience innovation across the enterprise.
  • Communicate complex AI enabled experience concepts through compelling storytelling, demos, prototypes, and showcases.
  • Influence senior leaders on the strategic value of experience led AI innovation and the evolving role of UX in an agent led organization.
  • Represent the UX organization in cross functional forums, steering committees, and AI strategy initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of UX, product design, or innovation leadership with significant exposure to AI/ML, emerging tech, or agentic systems.
  • Proven experience leading multi disciplinary teams through concept creation, prototyping, and early stage product incubation.
  • Deep knowledge of interaction design, systems thinking, multimodal experience patterns, and AI/GenAI user experience frameworks.
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguous problem spaces into structured opportunity areas, experience models, and strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and executive storytelling skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross functional alignment.

Education:

  • Graduate or post graduate degree from leading design schools

Experience:

  • 15 + years of relevant experience
