Full Stack Developer – Senior
The opportunity
A Full Stack Developer with .NET and React expertise specializes in building complete enterprise web applications using Microsoft's .NET ecosystem for the backend and React for the frontend. Also, you're expected to architect solutions, mentor junior developers, and own entire features from design through production.
Your key responsibilities
- Frontend Development: Building responsive, performant user interfaces with React, managing state, and implementing complex UI interactions
- Backend Development: Designing and implementing APIs using .NET (C# with ASP.NET Core or Framework), managing business logic, and ensuring system reliability
- Database Design: Creating efficient SQL Server schemas, optimizing queries, and ensuring data integrity
- System Architecture: Contributing to decisions about application structure, scalability, and integration patterns
- API Development: Building RESTful APIs endpoints with proper authentication, validation, and error handling
- Code Quality: Writing clean, maintainable code following SOLID principles and conducting code reviews
- Testing: Implementing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests across both layers
- Deployment & DevOps: Managing CI/CD pipelines, deploying to Azure or on-premises servers, and monitoring applications
- Problem-Solving: Debugging issues that span React frontend, .NET backend, and SQL Server database
- Collaboration: Working with designers, product managers, QA, and other developers
- Performance Optimization: Ensuring fast load times, efficient database queries, and optimized React rendering
- Documentation: Maintaining API documentation and architectural decision records
Skills and attributes for success
- Full-Stack Microsoft Expertise: You need strong knowledge across the entire Microsoft stack—React for frontend, .NET/C# for backend, and SQL Server for data. You should understand how these technologies integrate and optimize across all layers.
- Enterprise-Level Thinking: Enterprise applications require scalability, security, maintainability, and reliability. You should think about long-term implications of technical decisions, not just short-term solutions.
- Database Optimization: SQL Server expertise with understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and database design patterns that support high-performance applications.
- Communication: Explaining technical decisions about architecture, technology choices, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Across Layers: Ability to diagnose whether a performance issue is in the React UI, .NET API, the database, or network layer—and fix it systematically.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- 5+ Years in .NET and React Development should have spent substantial time building production applications with both technologies. This typically means multiple projects where you've seen different architectural patterns, scaling challenges, and business requirements.
- C# Expertise: Deep knowledge of C# including LINQ, async/await, delegates, events, generics, and modern language features (nullable types, records, tuples, etc.)
- API Design: Building RESTful APIs following best practices, versioning strategies, and proper HTTP status codes
- Authentication & Authorization: Implementing authentication (JWT, OAuth, Windows Auth) and role-based access control
- React Proficiency: Modern component-based UI development with hooks, state management, and performance optimization. React is the standard for building dynamic user interfaces in this stack.
- .NET Mastery: Deep knowledge of C# and the .NET ecosystem, including async/await patterns, dependency injection, middleware, and entity framework. Understanding both .NET Framework and .NET Core is valuable.
- Database Optimization: SQL Server expertise with understanding of query optimization, indexing strategies, and database design patterns that support high-performance applications.
- Advanced React Knowledge: Deep proficiency with React hooks (useState, useContext, useReducer, custom hooks), functional components, and lifecycle methods
- JSX & Component Architecture: Building reusable, well-structured components with proper prop management and composition patterns
- State Management: Experience with major state management solutions
- CSS & Styling: Proficiency with CSS-in-JS solutions (styled-components, Emotion) or CSS modules, responsive design, and styling best practices
- Performance Optimization: Understanding React performance (memorization, lazy loading, code splitting, virtualization)
- Testing: Writing unit tests with Jest and React Testing Library, integration tests, and snapshot testing
- Debugging: Using React Developer Tools and browser Dev Tools effectively
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Version Control: Expert-level Git proficiency including branching strategies and workflows
- CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools for automated testing and deployment
- Azure: Proficiency with Azure services commonly used with .NET.
- Monitoring & Logging: Setting up logging (Serilog, NLog), monitoring, and alerting
- Design Patterns: Understanding and implementing common patterns (Repository, Factory, Observer, Strategy, etc.)
- SOLID Principles: Writing code that follows Single Responsibility, Open/Closed, Liskov Substitution, Interface Segregation, and Dependency Inversion principles
- Clean Architecture: Building applications with clear separation of concerns across layers
What we look for
EY People Consulting is likely seeking someone who:
- Enterprise-Ready Developer: Someone who writes production-quality code that scales and is secure
- Full-Stack Independence: Can own features end-to-end without being blocked by frontend or backend specialists
- Modern Tech Stack Expertise: Deep knowledge of current best practices in both React and .NET ecosystems
- Technical Leadership: Can make architectural decisions, guide junior developers, and establish coding standards
