Tax – Americas Tax Technology Group – Senior Technical Product Manager

The opportunity

As part of our Americas Tax Technology Group (ATTG) you will be part of a technology organization that develops and maintains innovative solutions for our client-serving Tax professionals. ATTG professionals will partner with our Tax professionals to develop supporting technology such as digital/mobile tools to improve internal operations, application of Artificial Intelligence in Tax, to collect financial data, development of advanced financial dashboards, visualization, analytics, and reports.

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Product Manager to join our dynamic team at EY as we strive to develop a top-tier product and technology team. As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you will be pivotal in driving the development and success of cutting-edge products and services that will redefine the taxation industry. Your strategic thinking, technical expertise, and leadership abilities will be crucial in shaping the future of our group and driving significant revenue growth for EY.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development. The Product team within ATTG org guides products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our internal and external users alike.

Your key responsibilities

Product Strategy and Vision:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with the company's objectives.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback analysis to identify market trends and opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points to inform product development decisions.
  • Define business metrics and KPIs to measure product ROI and impact

Product Planning and Execution:

  • Define clear product requirements and specifications, working closely with engineering, design, and other stakeholders.
  • Break down complex projects into manageable tasks and create project plans, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Prioritize features and initiatives based on business impact, technical feasibility, and customer value.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Foster strong relationships with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and other teams to drive cross-functional collaboration and ensure successful product launches.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to define technical requirements, architecture, and development timelines.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and engaging user experiences.

Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept to launch and beyond.
  • Conduct regular product performance analysis and use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Continuously monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

Leadership and Mentoring:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior product managers, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating strong leadership skills, decision-making abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in product management and drive best practices across the organization.

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. MBA or equivalent business experience is a plus.
  • Experience in Tax or Wealth/Financial planning domains is a plus
  • 7-10 years of product management experience in product management roles within the cloud, SaaS, enterprise, internal tools, supply chain networks, and top tech firms (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta, or high-growth startups.
  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping technical products.
  • Experience creating product roadmap(s) from conception to launch, driving the product vision, defining the GTM strategy, and leading design discussions.
  • Experience managing day-to-day technical and design direction for large-scale systems.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: cloud infrastructure, SaaS, big data, security and privacy, development and operations, or artificial intelligence/machine learning.
  • Knowledge of multiple functional areas such as Product Management, Engineering, UX/UI, Sales, Customer Support, Finance, or Marketing.
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders, achieve strategic goals, and evolve product strategy based on research, data, and industry trends
  • Strong technical background with the ability to understand and effectively communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated success in driving the development and launch of innovative, high-quality software products.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven and results-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to translate business objectives into actionable product plans.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern product management tools.
  • Passion for technology and staying up to date with the latest industry trends and advancements.

Ideally, you’ll have

  • Ability to understand and learn tax law and technology implications at a high level
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills as well as the ability to multitask on various projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work and team effectively with clients and high-level leadership personnel as well as influence all team members.

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $99,700 to $289,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $119,700 to $328,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
  • Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
