The Assurance Advisory team (Digital Asset), within EY’s Financial Services Organisation, is a fast-growing group supporting both global and Hong Kong clients as they navigate digital asset and crypto adoption, regulatory change and audit requirements. The team offers a dynamic portfolio with growing demand for assurance solutions in virtual assets, stablecoins and blockchain.

EY’s Assurance Advisory practice is expanding with a blockchain specialist role to provide subject matter expertise and leadership for digital asset and blockchain assurance in Hong Kong. This senior role offers the chance to shape EY’s market offering, lead complex engagements, and influence blockchain risk frameworks in Hong Kong and globally. You will work closely with leading financial institutions, crypto-native firms, stablecoin issuers and regulators navigating blockchain technologies such as stablecoins and tokenization. Leveraging EY’s global network, you will support clients in governance, risk, regulatory compliance and assurance solutions in this fast-growing and evolving field.

Responsibilities, Qualifications, Certifications

Your key responsibilities

In your role as a Senior Manager / Manager you’ll:

• Lead and deliver blockchain and crypto-related assurance engagements, managing planning, execution, delivery, and client relationship management.
• Serve as a trusted subject matter expert in blockchain protocols, digital assets, cryptocurrencies etc., leveraging your knowledge and experience to shape services for clients.
• Guide cross-service line teams to systematically assess digital asset risks and design control frameworks according to the HKMA, SFC and leading international regulatory standards for assurance engagements.
• Provide strategic insights and technical thought leadership internally and externally, representing EY at industry forums, regulatory and industry consultations and major blockchain events.
• Develop and maintain advanced blockchain risk and assurance methodologies, digital asset audit tools and knowledge assets to keep EY at the forefront of this emerging area.
• Coach and lead cross-service line teams, fostering skill development in digital asset auditing and regulatory assurance.
• Engage in business development activities including proposal creation, client pitching and collaborating with EY’s global blockchain network to identify new digital asset market opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with EY’s quality, risk management and professional standards on all blockchain-related engagements.

Requirements:

To qualify for the role you must have

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines. Professional qualifications, such as CISA, CISSP and CISM are preferred.
• 5+years of relevant experience in financial services IT audit/ internal control reviews/ technology or cybersecurity risk related topics with blockchain and digital asset exposures.
• Experience in the assessment and implementation of IT standards and certifications, such as SOC, COBIT, ISO2700x.
• Familiarity with HKMA, SFC digital asset guidelines and international crypto compliance frameworks.
• Deep technical understanding of blockchain technologies, cryptocurrencies, tokenization, Web3 and related business models.
• Good leadership skills with experience managing teams, coaching professionals, and building internal expertise in emerging technology risks.
