Senior Associate - Independence - Risk Management Services
This is a role that requires incumbent to own & execute global processes related to Independence monitoring activities. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in an unstructured and complex environment, requiring innovative thinking, logical reasoning, strong communication skills, and the ability to make swift
decisions. The candidate should continuously add value to the assigned processes and develop solutions for
situations that may not have been previously encountered.
The opportunity
The Senior Associate within RMS-Independence team would be required to develop subject matter expertise in RMS process and policies. An individual should be able to continuously add value to assigned processes and develop solutions for situations that may not have been previously documented. Process transitions will be an important part of this profile and the candidate will be expected to spearhead & manage the entire transition life cycle
including project scoping, documentation, execution, & improvement. Providing feedback to the team members and helping them to move the learning curve will be another aspect of this role.
The role involves evaluating risks associated with each client and engagement and proposing mitigation strategies. As an independence professional, you will drive projects to identify and assess risks associated with the firm’s audit clients, particularly maintaining the firm’s independence with respect to audit clients and its affiliates, thereby helping engagement teams in mitigating Independence related risks.
Your key responsibilities
Technical expertise
- Conduct research using both systematic and intuitive secondary research techniques
- Study the research findings, draw inferences and conclusions in response to the research requirement
- Know key requirements of firm and regulators’ risk management rules and policies
- Utilize analytical and project management methodologies and tools
- Complete all assigned projects/tasks in line with the standard operating procedures
- Complete all assigned projects/tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of all tasks assigned.
- Performs review of transactions received from client teams and evaluates completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of proposed transaction/requests.
- Flags issues/potential challenges to the project managers at an appropriate time so that timely action can be initiated
- Acts as a liaison between the client teams, other members of the RMS team, and various functional areas within the firm
- Builds a network of people within RMS and across the firm
- Offers input and assists in the collection of feedback from team members to enhance processes on an ongoing basis.
Client Management
- Facilitate introductions with account teams and clients to gather information directly and influence decision-making.
- Proactively manage client expectations by establishing a strong client management framework.
- Address and resolve any service delivery issues or escalations.
People Management
- Ensure adherence to workflow protocols and tools.
- Monitor and manage team performance by setting objectives, evaluating performance, and offering constructive feedback.
- Guarantee compliance with established workflow procedures and utilization of necessary tools.
- Provide guidance and coaching to team members to foster career advancement and suggest educational opportunities to fill any any skill gaps.
Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role, you must have
- MBA/MCOM/MA or equivalent post-graduate degree from a reputed institute
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a research / analysis role
- Candidates with exposure to handling international customers/client interaction would be preferred.
- Well-developed analytical, interpersonal, and communication (both verbal and written) skills in English
- Proficient in MS Office
- Must be well versed with financial instruments used for investment purposes like Shares, Mutual Funds, Insurance etc.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Understanding of the differences between risk advisory and risk management.
- Presentation skills, including public speaking and creating presentations using PowerPoint or similar software.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems independently using data.
Technologies and Tools
- Experience in MS office suites like Microsoft 365, MS excel, PowerPoint
- Business analytics tool like Power-BI
- Knowledge on any AI tools. (Basics)
