The opportunity
The purpose of the global EY organization is to Build a better working world. The insights and services the organization provides help to drive long-term value for clients, people and society and to build trust in the capital markets. An essential function under EY Business Enablement, Supply Chain Services (SCS) is a global team with more than 600 professionals in over 35 countries supporting the EY organization across the globe. This structure helps enable knowledge-sharing across categories and regions, streamlining efforts in seeking innovative suppliers that can provide exceptional client service to maximize SCS’s value for the EY organization and the world's supply chain.
A key component of SCS is Global Procurement, whose purpose is to drive significant synergies and value creation from sourcing to contract lifecycle management, deliver exceptional client experiences and build more vital collaboration in order to manage Technology, Talent, Alliances and Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) spend categories. Our team of 300+ forge meaningful supplier relationships and strengthen supplier resilience to help EY maximize long-term value for its people, clients and communities.

GDS has locations in the Americas; Europe, Middle East and India (EMEIA) and Asia-Pacific and is looking to triple its headcount and double its footprint in the next three years. Moreover, SmartBuy team is a dynamic organization dedicated to delivery of operational excellence Source to Contract domain. It provides cross-category sourcing services for low and medium risk / value transactions leveraging our expertise in quick and effective delivery of sourcing projects. SmartBuy’s mission is to drive efficiencies through process automation and optimization to meet and exceed the expectations of the fast moving marketplace as well as our EY business partners. In addition to process improvements, SmartBuy drives deployment of Fast Buying Channels – a self-service solution to purchase goods and services – to provide our business a near immediate procurement experience as well as Autonomous Service Agent – Global Procurement’s inaugural AI-driven procurement solution designed to automate low-cost, low-risk transactions across the full purchasing lifecycle.
Your key responsibilities
- Reporting to the Global Procurement Executive, this strategic leadership role will manage a team circa 45 and oversee the management of EY’s relevant GDS and SmartBuy Global Procurement relationships, spend and procurement contracts.
- Act as a trusted business advisor to EY relevant leadership and stakeholders.
- Proactively evaluate strategic opportunities such as faster buying channels, supplier rationalization and consolidation of spend through preferred suppliers.
- Work with major senior stakeholders across the business to develop a dynamic forecast to ensure team is optimally resourced to manage over XXXXXX contracts annually.
- Proactively manage changing demand and collaborating with stakeholders to build robust business requirements and business cases for major negotiations, delivering high value and speed-to-market.
- Understand the Talent, Technology, Alliances and Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) supplier footprint, types of contracts signed and provide oversight of the building/driving of the future roadmap.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of supplier capabilities and how they are utilized in EYs own market offerings.
- Build and participate in regular supplier reviews with key stakeholders and EY leadership, in collaboration with Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) team. Partner with SRM leadership to optimize Alliance Supplier contract framework.
- Provide a leadership role in complex cross organizational and multi-dimensional negotiations, including driving major negotiation steering committees with senior stakeholders and EY leadership where required.
- Provide exceptional service to stakeholders while maximizing and realizing significant value through delivering both market-leading quantitative value and maintain target 95% of spend under management.
- In addition to strong relationships with Talent, Technology, Alliances and Brand, Marketing and Communications (BMC) Leaders, collaborate with business partners including GCO, Risk, Client Partners, Other Procurement Leaders and VEMO (Vendor Management Ecosystem Office) on major negotiation strategies and initiatives.
- Lead and develop a high performing team with strong people management skills. Manage the training, development, and performance of team members, helping them develop their leadership, strategic development skills, supplier relationship management expertise and people management skills.
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong business acumen and commercial skills to drive supplier negotiations
- Deep knowledge and expertise in Technology and Talent supplier segment and EY market offerings. BMC supplier segment expertise is considered a plus.
- Significant experience and strong knowledge of procurement; understanding of the commercial drivers of supplier performance
- Strong negotiator and influencer capable of driving alignment with key senior stakeholders and leaders
- Strong leadership skills to proactively drive and deliver significant programs - ability to forge strong, trusting relationships with senior stakeholders, business partners and suppliers
- Collaborative team member valuing cooperation and teamwork
- Proven organizational and people management skills
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Business or other relevant Degree
- 10+ years of relevant experience including specific experience with procurement and supplier relationship management, especially in the Technology third party space
- Proven and extensive experience managing and leading teams
- Willingness to travel domestically or internationally for supplier and stakeholder related meetings
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills in business English
- Experience with a global, culturally diverse organization
- Experience working collaboratively, virtually and independently
