We are looking for a strong AWS Outpost Engineer to lead hybrid-cloud engagements across large enterprise ecosystems. As an AWS Outpost Engineer, you will architect, deploy, and operationalize AWS Outposts environments, enabling seamless hybrid integration between on premises infrastructure and AWS Cloud. You will guide engineering teams, collaborate with architects, and work directly with clients to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient hybrid cloud platforms.

Your key responsibilities
Hybrid Cloud Architecture & Delivery
- Lead the design, deployment, and management of AWS Outposts, ensuring consistent hybrid operations between on-prem data centres and AWS regions.
- Architect secure, scalable hybrid workloads leveraging services such as EC2, EBS, ECS/EKS, RDS, and S3 on Outposts.
- Enable seamless connectivity using Direct Connect, VPN, Transit Gateway, and VPC networking best practices.
- Drive edge-to-cloud modernization, enabling applications that require low-latency, data residency, or on-prem compute needs.
- Develop deployment playbooks, landing zones, and operational runbooks for AWS Outposts environments.
Operational Excellence & Platform Management
- Oversee operational readiness—monitoring, logging, backup, patching, and troubleshooting Outposts infrastructure.
- Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and capacity planning frameworks for hybrid workloads.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise standards including governance, security, access management, and audit readiness.
- Lead the migration of legacy workloads to AWS Outposts, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
Collaboration, Leadership & Technical Guidance
- Work closely with cloud architects, application teams, DevOps engineers, security teams, and client leadership to deliver hybrid-cloud solutions.
- Provide technical leadership to engineering teams—mentoring them on hybrid cloud patterns, Outposts operations, and cloud-native best practices.
- Conduct architecture reviews, steer technical discussions, and resolve complex hybrid-cloud issues.
- Participate in pre-sales, solutioning, and proposal development for cloud transformation engagements.
Innovation, Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for automation using AWS Systems Manager, CloudFormation/Terraform, and DevOps toolchains.
- Evaluate new AWS hybrid services (Local Zones, Wavelength, Outposts Racks/Servers) and propose adoption strategies.
- Establish monitoring, observability, and optimization practices leveraging CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, and third party integrations.
- Contribute to internal accelerators, reusable assets, and hybrid-cloud reference architectures.
Skills and attributes for success
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years overall IT experience, with 3+ years in AWS Outposts or hybrid-cloud architecture.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, EKS/ECS, Systems Manager in hybrid mode.
- Hands-on experience with AWS Outposts deployment, installation coordination, workload placement, and lifecycle management.
- Solid understanding of networking (BGP, routing, subnets, security groups, firewall rules, connectivity patterns).
- Experience designing hybrid architectures requiring low latency, local data processing, or compliance constraints.
- Proficiency in Terraform/CloudFormation, automation, and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
- Passion for continuous learning to stay current with evolving AWS services, cloud trends, and emerging technologies.
- Understanding of on-prem infrastructure including VMware, storage arrays, physical networking, and Datacenter operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Hybrid/Outposts Specialty Certification (preferred).
- Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), VMware Cloud on AWS, or hybrid data solutions.
- Familiarity with resilience frameworks, compliance standards, and security hardening.
Education:
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
