Your key responsibilities

As an Associate Director – Resource Management, you will work as the staffing leader for the assigned Service Line and would be responsible to supervise the end-to-end demand management process from demand generation to demand validation, demand – supply matching, internal demand fulfilment, external recruitment coordination, headcount management, bench management and reporting/MIS. The incumbent will be responsible for implement- ing resource management process and operational efficiency within the business.

You will partner with the business teams to track, monitor, record and analyze demand pipeline projections, new deals, pursuits and staff augmentation needs. You will monitor and evaluate demand fulfilment options (internal capacity and bench), review external hiring pipeline, assign projects to the available workforce based on skills and experience required on the project.

The role is expected to build a high performing team, equipped to effectively manage the requirements of the business and consistently deliver on defined KPIs. The incumbent will supervise a team of 20-30 WFM professionals, provide career counselling, review performance and enable people engagement and teaming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Resource Management Team of a competency or competencies, providing, guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
  • Become strategic partner to enable the competency to achieve their objectives by providing key insights with respect to people and performance.
  • Develop and implement resource management strategies aligned with organizational objectives, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization of resources across projects.
  • Lead the workforce planning, bench management and capacity planning exercises for the competency or competencies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders both offshore and onshore to understand project requirements, resource demands, and constraints, ensuring appropriate staffing and skill alignment.
  • Driving resource planning initiatives, including analyzing resource availability, forecasting future needs, and identifying potential risks or bottlenecks.
  • Monitoring, analyzing resource utilization and allocation, optimizing it across projects and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee resource conflict resolution, working closely with project managers and stakeholders to find suitable resolutions and ensure project success.
  • Oversee the mobility of employee groups supported, driving internal transfers and international assignments as needed by the business in partnership with mobility team.
  • Establish and drive talent interlocks by partnering with Talent Acquisition, HR business partners and other talent COEs as needed.
  • Driving internal fulfilment charter for the competencies responsible.
  • Driving variance discussions weekly with offshore and onshore stakeholders when projects fall short of meeting their committed schedules.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and effective communication regarding resource needs and allocation.
  • Provide regular reports and insights on resource performance, capacity, and utilization to senior management, supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive process improvements in resource management practices, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and resource management practices, sharing knowledge and driving innovation within the team.

Skills and attributes for success

Graduates with 15+ years of relevant workforce management experience. Understanding of business models, operational and financial aspects of service delivery is mandatory. The suitable candidate should have good analytical skills, can compute staffing demands, validate skills and experiences associated with the demand, identify suitable fulfilment options from the internal pool of professionals available for allocation or on bench and negotiate staffing solutions with the business stakeholders.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, or a related field in resource management or project management are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in resource management, project management, or a related leadership role, demonstrating a successful track record of managing complex resource allocations.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess complex resource requirements and make strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of resource management tools and software, along with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to drive change, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and adapt to evolving business needs. In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks, with a comprehensive understanding of resource management best practices.
  • Proactive attitude, adaptability to change, and a strong focus on delivering results.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in change management, project management, forecasting and workforce planning.
  • Experience in BI tools – Alteryx, Power BI, Advanced Excel etc. will be preferred.
