Transformation Design & Execution

The Transformation Design & Execution practice @ EY provides a rewarding career opportunity, targeted toward becoming a professional in complex business, technology and infrastructure transformation. Within Life Sciences & Healthcare, we support leading biopharma, MedTech, and CRO clients across the R&D, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, and commercial value chain to deliver transformation programs that operate effectively within complex, GxP-regulated environments.

Role

As a Senior Consultant, you will work alongside US and global teams to deliver large-scale transformation programs for Life Sciences clients. You’ll contribute your sector expertise and consulting skills to help design PMO/EPMO/Transformation Office capabilities, strengthen program and portfolio delivery, and enable data-driven decision-making.

This role is ideal for professionals with deep Life Sciences value chain knowledge and proven business consulting capabilities - including structured problem solving, clear communication, and client presence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Solution Design

  • Support the translation of corporate strategy into phased transformation roadmaps, target operating models, and investment cases across R&D, clinical, manufacturing, and commercial functions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to design custom solutions that align with client’s needs and fit the specific context of their organization.

Assessment, Planning & Value Realization

  • Assist in conducting needs assessments to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to evaluating process, data, technology, talent, and control maturity using structured frameworks and benchmarks.
  • Help develop project plans, track milestones, and manage dependencies under guidance from project leadership.
  • Participate in constructing value trees and defining KPIs, baselines, and benefit tracking mechanisms.
  • Support sourcing model design and vendor coordination in collaboration with leadership.

Implementation & Delivery

  • Execute deployment activities including configuration, data migration, and system integration.
  • Contribute to agile delivery processes, manage assigned workstreams, and support PMO discipline.
  • Perform testing and quality assurance to validate solution functionality and resolve issues.
  • Monitor solution performance and gather user feedback to inform continuous improvement.

Change Enablement & Communication

  • Support change management initiatives including training, communications, and role enablement.
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions (e.g., discovery, future-state design, prioritization) with visual synthesis and storytelling tailored to stakeholder needs.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and technical teams to ensure alignment and clarity on project status and deliverables.
  • Assist in developing communication strategies to support stakeholder engagement and adoption.

Governance, Documentation & Digital Literacy

  • Contribute to mapping stakeholders and supporting governance structures under direction from Manager.
  • Maintain project documentation including training materials, user guides, and implementation reports.
  • Demonstrate comfort with data models, cloud platforms, validated systems, and genAI/analytics tools.
  • Apply controls for safety, bias, privacy, and traceability in digital solution delivery.

Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of the technology solutions being implemented, including software, hardware, and integration processes.
  • Sector Specialist: Deep understanding of Life Sciences value chains, regulatory environment, and operating models.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to break down complex problems and communicate insights through clear, structured narratives. Ability to analyze business processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and clients, especially senior stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during implementation. The ability to take the initiative, manage responsibilities, and deliver high-quality work across multiple workstreams.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders to foster collaboration and trust. Work effectively in diverse teams, fostering inclusion and shared ownership.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Systems, Engineering, Economics, Social/Organizational Science or a related field. A Master’s degree in these fields is also acceptable.
  • Experience (Overall): 4–7 years managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Consulting Background: At least 2+ years of external client facing consulting experience in business or technology, including managing client relationships with a large, multinational consulting firm.
  • Life Sciences Sector: 1+ year in Life Sciences or Healthcare, with direct exposure to value chain functions (e.g., R&D, clinical, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, or commercial)
  • Equivalency: EY will consider any suitable combination of education, training, or experience that meets the above.
