Job Description: Pharmacy Consultant / Pharmacy Domain Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a Pharmacy Consultant / Pharmacy Domain Specialist with a deep understanding of pharmacy operations, medication management, and pharmacy benefit models across payer and provider environments. The ideal candidate will support healthcare consulting engagements by combining pharmacy domain expertise with strong analytical, operational, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and analyze end-to-end pharmacy workflows including retail, mail-order, and specialty pharmacy.
  • Support formulary management, prior authorization, and utilization review processes.
  • Apply knowledge of Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) models, benefit design, and rebate structures.
  • Analyze medication utilization patterns, cost trends, and adherence metrics.
  • Support specialty drug management programs and medication safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, medical teams, operations, and technology stakeholders.
  • Align pharmacy processes with clinical, financial, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to consulting deliverables including workflow documentation, analysis, and recommendations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4–8 years of experience in pharmacy operations, PBM, healthcare consulting, or related healthcare roles.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy workflows across payer and provider environments.
  • Hands-on knowledge of formulary management, utilization management, and prior authorization processes.
  • Experience analyzing pharmacy utilization, cost, and performance data.
  • Understanding of pharmacy regulations, medication safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with U.S. healthcare payers, PBMs, providers, or specialty pharmacy organizations.
  • Exposure to specialty pharmacy, biologics, or high-cost drug management programs.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and CMS pharmacy guidelines.
  • Prior consulting or client-facing experience.
