Global Delivery Services refers to EY's worldwide network of service delivery centers. The GDS team plays an important role in EY’s strategy by ensuring effective support to EY’s growth agenda.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an incumbent who is competent enough to lead projects that provide advisory services specially accounting change and GAAP conversion for IFRS/ US GAAP.

As part of our EY GDS Assurance Team, the individual will be responsible for working closely with FAAS Managers and Senior Managers on client engagements across Americas, EMEIA or APAC.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage quality of service delivery
  • Ensure quality in delivering client service by directing daily progress of fieldwork, informing Supervisors of engagement status
  • Follow through on client requests in a timely fashion, and manage expectations regarding the timing of deliverables and reports
  • Explain the client's critical success factors to the engagement team.
  • Working directly with the onshore engagement team on a daily basis to deliver work to onshore clients;
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting concepts, stay informed of professional standards and updates thereon and effectively apply this knowledge to moderately difficult and/or complex client situations
  • Identify engagement and client service issues. Research and benchmark client data to industry data.
  • Explain the client's critical success factors to the engagement team.
  • Apply independent and objective professional judgment in applying accounting standards to meet engagement expectations, including regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinating with on-shore technical accounting teams to understand their accounting issue(s) and provide research assistance on an as-needed basis on U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting pronouncements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on special accounting matters, new accounting pronouncements, technology oriented solution driven by accounting as a functional expertise
  • Customize each presentation to the acquisition’s specific attributes
  • Work on a variety of corporate finance transactions in all stages, from initial client pitches to transaction closing
  • Receive direction from the Manager, Senior Manager and Partner
  • Maintaining a relationship approach with senior Stakeholders, interpreting feedback on key business developments/risks and understanding the Clients' marketplace in order to address their needs, while delivering 'one voice' to the client in all communications and correspondence
  • Keeping abreast of pertinent industry, regulatory and business practices, driving oversight of regulatory adherence
  • Initiating ongoing improvements by exploring, identifying, and implementing reporting, analysis, and process solutions
  • Co-ordinating activities between small teams on projects to deliver tasks, including providing guidance and feedback to junior team members
  • Undertaking practice development activities including contributing to thought leadership pieces, running industry events, delivering training, or managing team communications
  • Contributing to business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients
  • Contributing to the growth of the practice by providing input to EY Point of views, development of solutions, engagement tools and enablers

Skills and attributes for success

  • Good understanding of IFRS/US/UK GAAP/ GAAP Conversion and International auditing standards.
  • Coordinating with on-shore technical accounting teams to understand their accounting issue(s) and provide research assistance on an as-needed basis on UKGAAP/USGAAP and IFRS accounting pronouncements.
  • Primary responsibility for project management and provide strategic planning in connection with project role and responsibilities, ensuring relevant information flow and appropriate coordination between cross-functional team members within the finance function.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align conversion efforts with organizational goals.
  • Work on a variety of accounting and GAAP conversion matters through all stages, from initial client pitches to audit closing/ Delivery includes Oversee the end-to-end project.
  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and set timelines for successful completion including Lead and mentor a team of GAAP Conversion seniors and conducting training session for provide guidance to team on complex accounting matters.
  • Communicate effectively with internal & external stakeholders regarding the progress of GAAP conversion projects and Address inquiries and provide insights on accounting implications.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and Mitigate risks associated with accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and technical writing skills
  • Ability and comfort level in researching client inquires and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice, as necessary
  • Working experience in relation to the following services/solutions:
    • GAAP conversion engagements at least from IFRS and US GAAP & vice versa (end to end)
    • Implementation of new accounting standards specially IFRS/ USGAAP, Minimum IFRS 15/ASC 606, IFRS 16/ ASC 842, IFRS 9/ASC 825, ASC 326, ASC 815
    • Experience or working knowledge on IFRS 17/ASC 944 would be an added advantage.
    • Drafting and designing accounting policies
    • Technical accounting research and advice
    • Consolidation and reporting under IFRS and US GAAP
    • Disclosure Support

Professional experience

  • Typical experience may include, whilst not limited to:
    • Experience of working in an advisory role.
    • Manage a team of 10+ people
    • Advances skills and experience with: technical accounting matters, whitepapers on significant issues like consolidation, IFRS 15, 16, 9 and Knowledge of IFRS 17 would be an added advantage (Corresponding standards in USGAAP as mentioned above).
    • GAAP Conversion through different GAAPs not limited to IFRS and USGAAP
    • Hands-on consulting experience at a Big 4, or top tier consulting firm.
    • Successful track record of implementing GAAP conversion initiatives in a large corporate environment

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA (US) or ACCA (UK)
  • 6-10 years (post qualification) in Assurance including at least 3+ years of Financial Accounting and \ Advisory experience
