The Opportunity
Are you passionate about improving the effectiveness of transaction monitoring and AML detection capabilities? We are looking for analytical professionals to join our Financial Crime Consulting team and support clients in the testing, validation, and optimization of AML scenarios.
In this role, you will help clients assess whether transaction monitoring scenarios perform as expected in pre-production and production-like environments. You will contribute either to the functional validation of scenarios and/or to the data-driven tuning of thresholds and scenario parameters using analytical tooling such as SQL and Databricks.
You will work closely with client stakeholders and EY teams to improve the relevance, efficiency, and reliability of AML monitoring frameworks, with a strong focus on scenario behavior, data quality, and alert performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support clients in the testing and validation of AML transaction monitoring scenarios in pre-production and analytical environments
- Execute functional tests to verify whether scenarios are implemented and behaving as expected.
- Investigate issues identified during testing and analyze why transactions or alerts are not flowing correctly through the scenario logic.
- Perform threshold testing and support the calibration of transaction monitoring scenarios to improve detection quality.
- Analyze scenario outcomes and contribute to the assessment of true positives, false positives, and scenario performance.
- Work with data sets and analytical tooling (e.g., SQL, Databricks) to support scenario testing and optimization activities
- Support the improvement of monitoring effectiveness by identifying data issues, threshold weaknesses, and scenario tuning opportunities.
- Apply transaction monitoring concepts such as ATL/BTL, and scenario segmentation in testing and analysis activities
- Collaborate with functional, technical, and operational teams to ensure scenarios meet business and compliance expectations
- Document testing outcomes, findings, and recommendations in a clear and structured manner.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Master degree in a relevant field (Business & Economics, Law, Criminology, …) or equivalent through experience.
- Relevant professional experience (between 1 year and 3 years) in a similar role, either in consulting, and/or in the banking industry.
- Relevant experience in AML transaction monitoring, scenario testing, data analysis, or financial crime analytics is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and interpret scenario results.
- Knowledge of AML/KYT and transaction monitoring concepts is highly relevant.
- Experience with test execution, issue analysis, and scenario validation is an asset.
- Good command of SQL and experience with Databricks or similar analytical environments is expected.
- Ability to understand scenario logic, threshold setting, and the impact of data quality on monitoring outcomes.
- Structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across business and technical stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge of business English, and fluency in Dutch and/or French
- Strong team spirit, balanced by a healthy sense of autonomy
