Manager – Guidewire Configuration & Digital Insurance Platform Specialist

The opportunity

We are looking for a highly capable insurance technology professional to strengthen our delivery capability across Guidewire and adjacent digital insurance platforms.

This role will focus on hands-on technical configuration, engineering leadership and integration delivery across modern insurance ecosystems, with particular emphasis on Guidewire Portal, Guidewire Edge API integrations, digital portal architecture and workflow-driven insurance journeys.

You will play a key role in delivering scalable, customer-centric solutions across policy administration, claims, underwriting, rating, quote, endorsement, inquiry and servicing workflows. The role is intentionally flexible and multi-disciplinary, combining insurance domain expertise with technical leadership, requirements facilitation, engineering governance, testing, production rollout and post-go-live optimisation.

This is a hybrid position based in Naarm – Melbourne. This role can be performed from any of our EY offices across Australia. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead configuration and delivery of Guidewire-enabled insurance solutions, including portal journeys, workflow-driven business processes and integrations across policy, claims, underwriting and rating domains.
  • Design, review and deliver API-led integration solutions across insurance ecosystems, including Guidewire Edge APIs, REST services, enterprise platforms and digital customer or business-user portals.
  • Provide technical leadership across cross-functional delivery teams, including architecture review, code quality, reusable engineering standards, delivery risk management, production release readiness and post-go-live stabilisation.
  • Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable platform configuration, integration patterns, digital journeys and implementation plans.
  • Contribute across the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements facilitation and solution design through build, testing, deployment, performance optimisation and operational support.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong experience with Guidewire Portal, Guidewire configuration and Guidewire Edge API integrations, ideally across policy, claims, underwriting, rating, servicing or workflow-driven insurance processes.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering insurance digital portals or enterprise web applications, including ReactJS or similar frontend technologies integrated with enterprise backend services.
  • Proven capability in REST API design, enterprise integration and platform interoperability across policy administration systems and surrounding insurance technology ecosystems.
  • Experience with insurance platform configuration and rating engines, including Origami Risk or comparable systems, with a practical understanding of insurance business rules and workflows.
  • Strong engineering foundation across Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Python or similar modern application development stacks.
  • Experience leading distributed Agile delivery teams across development, configuration, QA, release and production support streams.
  • Strong technical governance capability, including architecture review, code review, reusable standards, quality practices, performance optimisation and delivery risk management.
  • Confident client-facing communication skills, with the ability to facilitate requirements, engage business stakeholders and operate effectively across cross-functional teams.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Guidewire Certified Associate, Guidewire Certified Specialist or comparable insurance platform certifications.
  • Exposure to SmartCOMM, Duck Creek, Socotra or other insurance ecosystem platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD, release coordination, environment configuration, deployment automation or cloud-enabled delivery practices.
  • Strong commercial acumen, professional judgement and a delivery-focused mindset.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with strategic, executive-level and client-facing engagement.
  • A structured, outcomes-driven leadership style with a commitment to mentoring and developing engineering teams.
