Global Delivery Services refers to EY's worldwide network of service delivery centers. The GDS team plays an important role in EY’s strategy by ensuring effective support to EY’s growth agenda.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) Specialist / Senior Non-Functional Test Engineer with strong automation expertise to lead and elevate non-functional quality across enterprise banking platforms. This role demands deep technical and domain expertise, ownership of NFR strategy, and the ability to drive cross-team alignment on performance, resilience, security, and observability outcomes. Operating in an offshore (India) model, the role requires high autonomy, leadership through influence, and the ability to deliver audit-ready, measurable results at scale.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead non-functional testing and engineering initiatives across performance, resilience, security, usability, and observability domains.
- Design and implement advanced performance engineering practices, including workload modeling, benchmarking, capacity planning, and system tuning recommendations.
- Must have automation & test engineering maturity, should be able to build scalable NFR test frameworks and components using Java or TypeScript, following “Test as Code” principles with reusable and standardized assets
- Drive resilience engineering through failure experiments, recovery validation, and robustness verification across distributed systems.
- Oversee security test engineering aligned with OWASP Top 10, including misconfiguration detection and validation of security controls, along with interpretation of DAST/SAST outputs.
- Establish repeatable usability and accessibility validation practices aligned with WCAG standards, ensuring evidence-based quality checks.
- Define and validate observability and operability readiness, including SLIs/SLOs, alert effectiveness, and runbook completeness.
- Build scalable NFR test frameworks and components using Java or TypeScript, following “Test as Code” principles with reusable and standardized assets.
- Lead CI/CD integration of NFR validation with threshold management, trend-based gating, flakiness control, and environment-aware execution.
- Define and govern NFR requirements, ensuring measurable criteria, validation strategies, and audit-ready evidence standards.
- Drive advanced root cause analysis across teams using logs, metrics, traces, and code-level insights, ensuring closure and validation of fixes.
- Own and structure NFR validation using Jira (Xray), including test design, execution tracking, reporting, and KPI measurement.
- Act as a remote lead by aligning stakeholders, preparing decision-ready materials, and ensuring seamless collaboration across time zones.
- Proactively identify risks, provide impact analysis, and define mitigation strategies with clear recommendations.
- Standardize NFR approaches across teams through templates, frameworks, and reusable best practices while mentoring and coaching team members.
Skills and attributes for success
- Must-Have
- Strong banking domain knowledge, including core banking processes and channels.
- Broad understanding of technology across all layers (UI/browser, APIs, services, databases, networking, IAM, proxies/WAF).
- Extensive hands-on experience in non-functional testing across performance, resilience, security, usability, and observability.
- Automation capability with Java or TypeScript (Python optional) and experience with Test-as-Code practices.
- Experience integrating NFR checks into CI/CD pipelines with quality gates and monitoring.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills for root cause identification and performance optimization.
- Expertise in defining measurable NFR criteria, designing tests, and ensuring traceability with supporting evidence.
- Experience using Jira (Xray) for test management and reporting.

- Experience with Temenos or similar core banking platforms and integration patterns.
- Strong expertise across multiple tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured, K6, JMeter, Gatling, OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Tempo/Loki, and Tableau.
- Experience in defining enterprise-level performance, resilience, and security strategies.
- Experience in coaching teams or leading communities of practice to enhance NFR maturity.

- This role is staffed in client location in Chennai, India (offshore).
- Operate as a highly independent owner of NFR workstreams in an offshore environment.
- Drive end-to-end outcomes without reliance on detailed instructions or micromanagement.
- Proactively escalate risks with supporting evidence, impact assessment, and clear recommendations.
- Function effectively as a remote lead by anticipating stakeholder needs and ensuring smooth coordination across geographies.
- Continuously improve team maturity by standardizing practices and promoting best-in-class NFR engineering approaches.
