The opportunity

As a Manager in EY Oceania’s Assurance AI Client Services team, you’ll help lead the delivery, regional activation and growth of EY Oceania’s AI client services portfolio across Assurance.

You will work with clients and EY teams across AI governance and controls, AI-ready data, and AI systems and models, helping organisations build trust and confidence in their AI ecosystems across governance, data, compliance, models, controls and assurance.

This is a hybrid position based in Warrang – Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead AI assurance and advisory engagements across AI governance and controls, AI-ready data, AI systems and models, helping clients build trust, confidence and compliance across their AI ecosystems.
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of client engagements, including workplans, budgets, resources, stakeholder relationships and project teams, ensuring high-quality outcomes and exceptional client service.
  • Drive AI data and model assurance activities, including assessing AI data readiness, data quality, governance, controls, model performance, explainability, fairness and risk management.
  • Support the growth of EY’s AI Client Services practice by enabling client service offerings, contributing to proposals and go-to-market initiatives, building reusable assets, and helping audit and technology risk teams apply AI audit methodologies and guidance.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience at Manager level, or equivalent, in AI, data science, analytics, technology risk, audit analytics, model risk, AI assurance, digital assurance or related field.
  • Strong understanding of AI governance, AI risk, controls and assurance concepts, with practical knowledge of AI systems, machine learning concepts, data pipelines, model lifecycle, model testing and AI control environments.
  • Experience assessing data readiness, data quality, data integrity or data controls for analytics, AI, audit or assurance purposes, including accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, lineage, bias, suitability and fitness for purpose.
  • Experience supporting model testing, model validation, analytics testing or technical assurance procedures, including assessment of model inputs, outputs, performance, robustness, explainability, fairness, monitoring, limitations and controls.
  • Strong project and engagement management capability, including planning, coordination, stakeholder communication, escalation and budget management.
  • Ability to analyse complex issues, apply judgement and translate technical AI, data and model concepts into clear, practical recommendations for clients, management and stakeholder audiences.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

  • Experience in financial audit, IT audit, internal audit, technology risk, data risk, model risk management, audit analytics or digital assurance.
  • Experience with AI data readiness maturity assessments, feasibility screening, data quality evaluation or direct data quality testing.
  • Experience testing or validating predictive models, classification models, generative AI solutions, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation or AI-enabled decision systems.
  • Experience with cloud AI, data or machine learning platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks, Snowflake or similar environments, and exposure to MLOps, model monitoring, model documentation, model inventory, data governance or AI lifecycle controls.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, information systems, accounting, audit, risk, technology risk, privacy, cloud, AI or governance.
