The Opportunity
At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence. As a Senior Manager in our Banking Technology Consulting team, you will lead the technology transformation of payments platforms for leading companies across the banking and non-banking sectors.
You will work closely with senior executives and technology leaders to define and implement modern payments strategies, architecture, and platform transformations, supporting initiatives such as real-time payments, agentic AI in payments, digital wallets, and digital assets.
This role combines deep payments domain expertise, hands-on program delivery experience, sales and strong technical knowledge of leading payments platforms.

Your Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery & Leadership
- Lead large-scale, multi-year payments transformation programs (e.g., real-time payments, ISO20022 migration, payment hub modernization, agentic AI)
- Oversee end-to-end program delivery across strategy, design, build, test, and implementation, including data conversion and operational readiness
- Manage multiple concurrent engagements, ensuring quality delivery, governance, and risk management
- Define and implement delivery frameworks, program governance, and execution roadmaps
Payments Architecture & Technology
- Design and review payments architecture including payment hubs, orchestration layers, and integration with ancillary systems such as core banking systems, fraud platforms
- Lead the definition of target-state architecture across channels, processing, clearing & settlement
- Advise on payments platforms and vendors (e.g., payment hubs, digital wallets, real-time rails) reviews. Design and support client RFx, provide guidance on vendor fit and delivery risks.
- Oversea the design and delivery of cloud and API-based payments architectures, including microservices and event-driven design
Client Advisory & Strategy
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders (VP, Director, CIO+) on payments strategy and program transformations
- Support clients in building business cases, technology roadmaps, and target IT models
- Advise on industry changes impacting payments (e.g., real-time rails, open banking, ISO standards)
- Expertly tap into the larger EY network to collaborate on delivery and advisory services for the client
Business Development
- Identify and lead new business opportunities (ID and sell) in payments technology
- Develop proposals, go-to-market assets, and innovative solutions
- Contribute to practice growth and thought leadership in payments
- Build and maintain strong networks in the financial services sector
People Leadership
- Lead and mentor cross-functional delivery teams (architects, developers, SMEs)
- Foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture
- Support talent development and capability building in payments technology
- Continually develop technical skills via certifications (e.g. AI, Agile)
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Strong experience in payments technology ( real-time payments, wires, digital payments, payment hubs, agentic AI)
- Proven track record in program delivery / large transformation leadership
- Deep understanding of enterprise and solution architecture in financial services
- Experience with system integration, APIs, middleware, and cloud platforms
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
- Ability to manage complex, multi-stream engagements in ambiguous environments
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
- Experience with payments platforms (e.g., ACI, FIS, Finastra, Volante, Temenos Payments, or similar)
- Knowledge of ISO 20022, SWIFT, Lynx, EFT, ACH, , FedNow, RTR equivalents
- Exposure to Agile delivery, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures
- Experience in commercial structuring and large deal delivery
What We Look For
- 8+ years of experience delivering technology programs in financial services
- Strong consulting experience, ideally in banking or payments transformation
- Bachelor’s degree in technology, engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership in large-scale technology transformations

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.
