People Advisory Services (PAS) - Staff Assistant

Job purpose:

As a People Advisory Services (PAS) Staff Assistant, you will support the team in delivering employment tax, payroll, immigration and people-related compliance services to clients. This entry-level role is suitable for a fresh graduate who is eager to learn, develop technical skills and contribute to client service delivery under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Your client responsibilities:

Global Mobility and Immigration

  • Assist the team with expatriate and employee mobility assignments.
  • Assist in preparing and collating documents for work permits, residence permits, visas and other immigration-related applications.
  • Conduct basic research on immigration requirements and maintain records of application progress.
  • Support communication and coordination with clients, regulators and internal teams, as required.

Employment Tax and Payroll Advisory

  • Assist with payroll-related reviews and basic employment tax compliance tasks.
  • Support the preparation of PAYE, pension, employee benefits and expatriate tax deliverables.
  • Help gather and review client information for employment tax health checks and compliance reviews.
  • Assist with tax audit support and engagements involving employment-related taxes.
  • Support the preparation and filing of annual personal income tax returns for individuals.

Advisory

  • Support research on workforce-related tax matters, including employment, compensation, benefits and mobility.
  • Assist in preparing draft client communications, technical notes and simple analyses for review by senior team members.
  • Conduct research on tax, pension, immigration and related regulatory developments affecting clients.

Compliance and Regulatory Advisory

  • Monitor updates in tax, pension and immigration legislation under supervision.
  • Assist in preparing client alerts, technical updates and advisory memoranda.
  • Support clients and engagement teams in meeting statutory and regulatory obligations relating to employees.

Qualifications and experience

  • A first degree from a recognised tertiary institution in Human Resource Management ,Business Administration, Law or related field.
  • No prior full-time work PAS experience is required. However, internship, national service or volunteer experience in tax, payroll, HR, immigration or advisory services will be an added advantage.
  • A basic understanding of labour, immigration, pension, tax or employment-related regulations will be an added advantage.

Skills:

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to learn quickly, take feedback positively and work effectively as part of a team.
