The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Belfast UK&I Consulting Quality Team within EY.

The Quality Team supports the adoption and application of EY's global policies, procedures, methods, tools and principles, helping to ensure services are delivered to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Reporting to the Belfast Team Leader, the successful candidate will provide a broad range of support to the Consulting business, with a focus on operational risk management, compliance, and the review of contractual and bid documentation.

Role Purpose

The role involves supporting the effective management of contractual, operational and regulatory risk across Consulting engagements. Working closely with Legal, Independence, Business Resilience and other support teams, the successful candidate will provide practical guidance on risk and contractual matters while supporting the continuous enhancement of quality and risk management processes.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Review & Management

  • Review and provide advice on client agreements, Statements of Work (SOWs), subcontracts and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
  • Support contract negotiations in accordance with EY's contract management policies, procedures and negotiation guidelines.
  • Provide guidance on:
    • Terms and conditions
    • Confidentiality agreements
    • Data protection requirements
    • Business relationships
    • Liability provisions
    • Subcontracting arrangements
    • Third-party risk considerations
    • Regulatory and auditor independence requirements

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Act as a key point of contact for contractual and operational risk management queries.
  • Identify, assess and manage operational and regulatory risks associated with client engagements.
  • Escalate complex contractual and risk issues to General Counsel and other specialist support functions where required.
  • Support the identification and ongoing management of regulatory and independence requirements during commercial contracting activities.
  • Assist with the deployment of risk management projects, initiatives and risk mitigation assessment programmes.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Independence, Business Resilience and wider Quality teams.
  • Build effective working relationships with partners and senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of quality and risk management practices.

Continuous Improvement

  • Propose and support enhancements to Quality processes, procedures and contracting practices.
  • Contribute to the development of practical solutions that improve operational efficiency and risk management outcomes.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting commercial contracts and contractual terms.
  • Understanding of general UK contracting principles and practices.
  • Experience managing operational, contractual or regulatory risk within a professional services or legal environment.
  • Ability to analyse and resolve complex risk and contractual matters using sound commercial judgement.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Legal, Risk and Compliance functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and respond to queries in a timely manner.
  • Ability to make balanced decisions and confidently apply contractual, regulatory and risk management principles.

Desirable

  • Experience within a professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting risk management projects or process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of regulatory independence requirements and data protection considerations.
  • Familiarity with contract negotiation frameworks and governance processes.
