The role will work closely with Managers, Senior Managers, Directors and Partners across the UK insurance practice and the wider EY global network.

Within our talented and dynamic Actuarial team, members work on multiple UK P&C engagements covering reserving, actuarial audit support, solvency II, technical provisions, standard formula, capital and risk modelling, due diligence and other related actuarial projects. The Senior Manager will provide technical, operational and people leadership across a portfolio of engagements, develop trusted relationships with senior UK stakeholders, contribute to the continued growth of the UK P&C delivery model and help shape the future actuarial capability of EY GDS through technology, innovation and talent development.

Our growing team of professionals come from diverse backgrounds and are committed to being long-term trusted advisors to our stakeholders and clients.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Manager within the Actuarial team, your role involves leading the delivery of UK P&C actuarial work, providing technical oversight and developing a high-performing GDS team.

On engagements, you will:

  • Be accountable for the high-quality and timely delivery of multiple UK P&C actuarial engagements, providing appropriate technical oversight, challenge and review.
  • Manage engagement priorities, budgets, resourcing, quality, timelines and risks, while proactively communicating progress and issues to UK stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to UK Partners, Directors and senior client-serving teams, influencing actuarial approaches, delivery models and capability decisions.
  • Support business development activities, proposal preparation, capability presentations and opportunities to expand the scope of actuarial services delivered from GDS.
  • Leverage advanced analytics, automation and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, quality and insight generation across actuarial engagements.
  • Identify opportunities to transform traditional actuarial processes through the use of technology, data science and innovative delivery approaches.

Within the actuarial practice you will:

  • Lead the continued growth and strategic development of the UK P&C Actuarial capability within EY GDS, including capability building, workforce planning, succession planning, knowledge management and long-term practice development.
  • Support revenue growth, engagement economics, pipeline development and business planning activities across the UK P&C actuarial portfolio.
  • Provide technical governance, review and challenge over complex reserving analyses, ensuring appropriate actuarial judgement, methodological rigor and delivery quality.
  • Analyze historical claims data, identify key drivers and trends, assess the impact of inflation, large losses, legislative developments and reinsurance arrangements, and clearly communicate findings and business implications.
  • Review methodologies, assumptions, diagnostics, sensitivities and results, providing robust challenge and professional actuarial judgement.
  • Benchmark methodologies, assumptions and results against UK market practice and emerging industry developments.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, board-level presentations, stakeholder communications and other deliverables for senior audiences.
  • Champion the adoption of AI, agentic workflows, automation and advanced analytics across actuarial delivery, helping transform traditional actuarial processes and create measurable stakeholder value.
  • Promote the use of modern actuarial tools, analytics platforms and automation capabilities, including Python, SQL, Power BI and AI-enabled technologies where appropriate.
  • Stay informed of emerging regulatory, technological and market developments affecting UK insurers.
  • Contribute to actuarial thought leadership, knowledge sharing and capability development across EY GDS and the wider EY network.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment and succession planning activities to sustain the long-term growth of actuarial practice.
  • Lead performance management for assigned team members, including goal setting, coaching, regular feedback, career development and year-end performance discussions.
  • Build a high-performing and inclusive culture that promotes collaboration, continuous learning and professional excellence.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive actuarial leader who can combine strong reserving expertise, UK market knowledge, stakeholder management and people leadership to support the continued growth of the GDS practice.
