The Position
As an integral part of Genentech’s Employment Law Group, the Senior Immigration Program Specialist is responsible for providing advanced strategic guidance and support to the US Genentech/Roche US Immigration Program, to ensure lawful work authorization for our dynamic workforce. This includes providing key expertise for the administration of the company’s US immigration program, internal client consulting and support, supplier management, and US I-9 escalation support for employment verifications and re-verifications for foreign nationals across Roche and its US affiliates. We are seeking a highly collaborative and proactive partner to co-own and further develop this high profile program that is critical to the company’s success.
The Opportunity
Independently provide advanced programmatic support for key operations, projects, and initiatives of the US Immigration Program
Apply subject matter expertise of US immigration policies and regulations to ensure program compliance with immigration laws
Administer U.S. immigration program guidelines in adherence with internal policies, and proactively identify service enhancements
Proactive, independent, and creative end-to-end management of complex case strategies and communications across Genentech, US Roche Diagnostics, and affiliate stakeholders including Talent Partners and candidates, employees and managers, People & Culture (P&C), International Mobility, and external immigration counsel
Work with Senior Immigration Program Manager for key actions and communications related to legal changes and updates for sponsored employees and stakeholders
Develop and maintain strong relationships with business/affiliate clients and stakeholders within the People & Culture Areas of Practice including Talent, Business Partnering, Global Mobility, and People Support Solutions, among others
Provide support for new affiliate onboarding into US Immigration Program
Design and implement program procedures and standards for increased effectiveness across non-immigrant and immigrant processes related to new hires, extensions, amendments, transfers, and terminations
In collaboration with Immigration Program Specialist and external legal counsel, monitor and strategically leverage case status reporting related to Service Level Agreements and client experience for increased program efficiency
Contribute to improving and maintaining US immigration-related resources for employees and stakeholders
Identify areas for program and experience enhancement to ensure development of the program
Partner with US immigration team to facilitate on-site USCIS employment checks, Public Access File maintenance and audits, Form I-9 compliance, and internal and external immigration system updates
Who You Are
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
7+ years of experience with US business immigration in a large corporate program, preferably with scientific and/or technical roles
Strong customer focus and collaboration skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Solution and data-oriented approach to problem solving
Ability to work collaboratively within a complex global and agile business environment
Proven experience in project management
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Intercultural sensitivity
English language fluency (both written and oral) are a must, other languages a plus
This role is located onsite at our South San Francisco campus, and a fully-remote working arrangement is not available.
Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $136,100 to $252,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
