Job Summary:
As the Field Analytics and Insights Senior Manager - Medical, you will own all aspects of delivering relevant analytics and insights to drive effective subnational market and customer decisions. You will leverage some historical precedent but also be empowered & expected to establish new best practices for effective pull through and execution of subnational market and customer strategies and tactics.
You will partner with many functions throughout DDA and the broader Genentech organization (Squads, Medical, Access, Finance, Field Strategy and Ops, Legal, Compliance, etc.) and lead cross-functional teams to better understand and assess the customer issues that impact ecosystem markets for the Genentech portfolio.
You will influence and pull through specific strategies and tactics at the ecosystem and customer level. This role is critical to identifying field opportunities and developing field strategy and tactics, but is not responsible for Genentech field strategy or execution. In addition, a key responsibility of this role is partnering with the Region Insights Lead and his/her Leadership Team to help shape the work of the Field Analytics and Insights community and influence the partnership and direction this role can have in the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
Act as go-to analytics and insights advisor to the MSL role-based team; Guide and influence their leadership to make data-driven decisions, strategies and tactics
Influence MSL leadership team to help craft and achieve key area results by considering unique team dynamics and pulling through portfolio priorities while balancing all Medical objectives
Perform relevant and appropriate analytics and analyses, derive key insights, make and present recommendations in the Field Medical/MSL space, including MSL prioritization, MSL targeting, MSL impact metrics, and analysis of qualitative MSL insights.
Collaborate with partner groups to deliver insights that are actionable and relevant, while considering a holistic view of the organization and portfolio
Shape the work of this specific role and influence the partnership and direction this role can have in the organization
Influence with indirect authority actions and decisions by Data, Analytics, and AI and Medical Affairs partners in support of Medical Affairs objectives and business needs.
Stay abreast of internal and external trends to evolve work to stay current and relevant to their team
May support pull through of tools, processes and reporting as required to aid field teams to do their job effectively
Demonstrate a strategic, agile and customer-centric mindset to achieving team objectives
Contribute to and lead department wide initiatives
Contribute insights and perspectives into long-range strategic plans and other tactical plans
Support his/her manager in training and mentoring less experienced individuals
Demonstrate commitment to compliance by adhering to the US Pharma Code of Conduct and all relevant Genentech Compliance Policies as well as completing all training
Who You Are
Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Computer or Physical Sciences or related field.
5 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent with advanced education.)
Demonstrated track record of leading and influencing cross functional teams and Senior Leaders
Experience developing and using Excel-based models as well as other modeling platforms
Experience with analytical and reporting tools
Strong strategic thinking and structured, problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and project management skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and facilitation skills
Proven track record of developing strong and trusted relationships
Comfortable dealing with uncertainty in a highly-matrixed organization.
Strong results orientation and adaptability in a past-faced environment.
Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience
MBA or Graduate-level Degree.
Proficiency in understanding market landscape and surfacing insights across multiple data sources.
Demonstrated experience in developing actionable insights for Medical Affairs organizations
Experience working with analytical tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Dataiku)
Working knowledge of secondary data sources including syndicated sales, interactions, promotional and marketing data, longitudinal patient level data; experience with payer data is preferred.
Experience with statistical modeling, analysis, and presentation of results to a non-technical audience.
Exposure to pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization.
Proficiency in exploring large amounts of data, identifying important insights and building compelling narratives.
Proven track record of leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork.
Location
This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and relocation benefits are not available.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $150,400 - $279,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
