2026 Summer Intern - Discovery Oncology

Department Summary

The Discovery Oncology department is dedicated to applying top-tier science to deepen our understanding of cancer biology in order to identify and pursue targets for developing potential new medicines, aiming to provide first-in-class or best-in-class therapeutics to patients.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

• Engages in literature review and experimental design to address key biological questions.

• Conducts cell-based and biochemical assays using cancer cell models.

• Leads the interpretation and presentation of data in both oral and poster formats.

Program Highlights

• Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

• Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

• A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

• Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

• Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

• Must have attained a Master's Degree.

• Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: Cellular, Molecular, Cancer Biology or equivalent.

Required Skills:

• Advanced understanding of Cell and Molecular Biology.

• Proven proficiency in mammalian cell culture.

• Demonstrated passion and ability to learn new concepts and skills.

• Effective multitasking in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Molecular, Biochemical, and Cellular Biology techniques.

• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $40.00-$46.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
